Statement of the problem

Obligation of sidewalk vendors are persons that sells goods and services to
public without having a permanently built structure that occupies spaces in public
areas specially the road side where it can cause traffic congestion. This is one
problem in our community that needs to be addressed to avoid inconvenience
specially the traffic congestion. It has a great impact in the flow of traffic
congestion because some parts that the government need to address specially in our
city who are directly affected with this problem.

Today there are many sidewalk vendors in our city and this factor utilizes
more spaces and more spaces occupied, will result to traffic congestion. Street
vendors are often those who are unable to get regular jobs in the remunerative
formal sector on account of their own meager financial resource. They are the main
distribution channel for a large variety of product of daily consumption like fruits,
vegetables, readymade garments, shoes, household gadgets, toys, stationary,
newspaper and magazines and so on. If they were to be eliminated from the urban
markets, it would lead to a severe crisis for fruit and vegetable farmers, as small
scale industries which cannot afford to retail their products through expensive
distribution networks in the formal sector.

This study aims the sidewalk vendors and its effects to our community.
Many people became successful because of street vending, although it is an illegal
activity since they are not authorized by any form of agency in government yet
they give contributions in terms of raising the economy and offering low cost food
the urban people. The importance of this sector cannot be undermined, especially
considering that the government does not have the capacity to provide jobs to the
millions of unemployed and underemployed people in Philippines.

This study will help our community clean and peaceful city. There will be
no more vending in sidewalk areas here at Iligan city by covering a whole market
which is the main Market in Palao that sells a good products like fish, vegetables,
fruits, and any kinds of healthy foods they were produced our daily needs.
 Also study helps our government to take an action about this issue to be
placed them in a right place to sells goods. It will helps our city most popular
compare the other cities by selling goods, and functions very well that will keep
our fellow Filipinos safe, clean, and healthy contributing here in the Philippines.
