e-learning questionnaire

This questionnaire is intended for

completion by Higher Education
Institutions (HEIs) and other
institutions where Radiography
education is undertaken across the
European Union.

This Erasmus Thematic Network project is co-financed by the European

Commission and co-ordinated by St Martin’s College, United Kingdom
HENRE 2003

Dear Participant,

This survey is part of a number of surveys being undertaken by the European

partners of the HENRE Thematic Network

The purpose of a Thematic Network is: "to define and develop a European
dimension within a given academic discipline or other issues of common interest
through cooperation between university faculties or departments, academic or
professional associations. Such cooperation should have a lasting and
widespread impact across a large range of institutions within or between specific
discipline areas".
The Higher Education Network for Radiography in Europe (HENRE) has
established 3 subgroups to look at a wide range of issues related to the education
of radiographers in Europe. Sub group 2 is investigating learning and teaching
methods including e-learning and Problem Based Learning (PBL). The attached
questionnaire is devoted to e-learning and seeks to investigate the extent of the
interest and usage of e-learning in the education of radiographers across Europe.
The results of the questionnaire will be disseminated by various means including
the HENRE website (www.henre.co.uk ) and through reports to the EU and via
papers at a number of conferences and seminar events.

We amongst the HENRE group of education institutions hope that the findings will
prove useful to all institutions involved in radiography education especially in light
of the Bologna agreement and other EU documentation affecting pan European
education.

Thank you for taking the time to complete this questionnaire.

The following is a definition of e-learning. Please visit the website below for more
information if needed.
e-LEARNING
This term is often taken to be synonymous with online learning and is defined by
Elliott Masie as ‘ the broad spectrum of learning and training activities that harness
the power of technology, including blended approaches and new models of

Q 5.
If you said yes to Q 4, in your own words explain briefly the purpose of using e-
learning in your radiography programme.

The following is a definition of a VLE. Please visit the websites below for more
information if needed and search for VLE.
A Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) provides learners with similar facilities and
learning opportunities they would experience in a face-to-face teaching situation but
online. A VLE has the added advantages of flexibility of access to discussion, support
and assessment.
Examples of VLEs are WEBCT; Blackboard; Ping-Pong

environment (VLE) in a radiography education programme- Please tick those
advantages and limitations that YOU think are applicable.
