‘GO HIGHER SLEEP LOWER’ in the mountaineering terms best way of
acclimatization……..!!!
It’s a strenuous day’s walk on scattered snowy and grassy patches right up to
the top of Pre-Monsoon Trekkers Base (3800m.) of Shirgan –Tungu. The
way back to Dharanoo Dugh is made more enjoyable by glissading at all
places on the way. The trail up to Base would be covered by a heap of snow
and the path would be difficult to negotiate due to snow compactness
Today’s trail descends same way down in a zigzag way through Moar
Thach (3235m), to Kurrdi and at little down Kurrdi is a diversion via
Jammu Dugh to Banad. It’s a complete strenuous steep walk down. The
Banad is situated in the middle of the mountain hill of dense forest and
located amidst silver fir trees and Apple orchards. A very lovely campsite
is – a just reward after a great day’s work and a day long hectic walk.
The trek encompasses a 1hour steep descent initially and then in a zigzag
way till the river basin through dense forest of blue pine, Cedar, oak,
silver fir. From the river the trek descends gently on a slanted traverse
slope to a river bed. Rest for a while, and then walk on man made path to
Khakhnal village. The Khakhnal village is having a vast meadow at the
forefront of Kartik Swami Narayan temple. Visit the Kartik Swami
Narayan Temple and look around.
