Activity Type Introduction

Reading, writing, In this insightful worksheet activity, students correct mistakes
listening and speaking in third-person singular present simple 'Wh' questions. Students
activity, pairwork then use the questions to interview a partner about a friend's
habits and routine.

Language Focus Procedure

Present simple 'Wh'
Divide the class into pairs (A and B).
questions and answers

Third-person singular Give Student A the top half of the worksheet, containing the
questions and the Student B answer key.

Aim
To correct mistakes in
third-person singular
present simple 'Wh'
questions and then use
the questions to interview
a partner.
Preparation
Make one copy of the
worksheet for each pair
of students and cut as
indicated.
Give Student B the bottom half, containing the questions and the
Student A answer key.
Tell the students to fold the paper in half and look at the twelve
present simple 'Wh' questions.
Explain that six of the questions on their worksheet are wrong.
Working alone, the students find the six mistakes and correct
them.
The students then take it in turns to check their corrections with
their partner who has the answer key.
After the questions have been checked, students interview each
other using the questions on their worksheet.

Level Student A thinks about a male friend and answers Student B’s
questions about this friend.
Pre-intermediate
Student B thinks of a female friend and answers Student A’s
questions about this friend.
Time
30 minutes Students can also choose a family member if they wish.

Afterwards, students tell the class about their partner's friend.
