Black and Brown Solidarity
What does it mean to come together as one?

This past weekend, nonviolent rallies continued to honor the lives of George
Floyd, Breonna Taylor, and many others brutally killed by police recently.
We’ve witnessed an outpouring of support from our local councils that have
joined in and made louder the voices of our Black community.

Salinas LULAC
Ventura County LULAC
Black and Brown voices are coming together to speak up against racism and
hate. Listen to the latest episode of Fronteras, by Texas Public Radio, featuring
Rev. Regina Clarke of Poor People's Campaign: A National Call for Moral
Revival and state director Rodolfo Rosales Jr. of Texas LULAC.

This has to be said again: Our Black community is hurting. Our Black brothers,
sisters have been living a reality that we cannot claim to fully understand. Our
goal is not to replace their voices, but rather to affirm them. We must come
together as one to acknowledge their pain and act to bring change.

In a recent statement, LULAC affirms that we rise to join in steadfast solidarity

with the hundreds of thousands of people across our country demanding
fundamental reforms to our law enforcement system. We stand as one with this
movement in strong agreement that we must change how law enforcement is
carried out in America. Read the full statement at LULAC.org.

We also invite you to visit LULAC.org/blacklivesmatter to join this movement.

We can take action together by filling out national petitions, signing up with
national civil rights organizations, and contributing to the causes of
national/local initiatives for equity. You can explore what to do next and how to
get further involved.

Racial Trauma and Young People – Why We Can’t Stay

Silent
A statement from the America’s Promise Alliance

LULAC is proud to have signed on this statement with 80+ organizations in

response to the developments in Minneapolis and around the country related to
violence against Black Americans. We know that these incidents leave an
indelible mark on our young people - particularly those young men and women
of color.

As an Alliance Member, LULAC is committed to addressing the impact of

systemic racism and trauma on younger generations. The statement expresses
our commitment to work in unity with communities and youth to address these
challenges.

Adelante America
Celebrating the graduation of Adelante students!

The San Benito County LULAC Council 2890 featured the LULAC Graduation
walk for 15 of our youth and Adelante Program Seniors. Adelante students
proudly walked for their parents and family members for two city blocks while
passing by cars honking at them, many stopped to salute them, and others
parked and watched from their vehicles.

It was a huge honor to have Congressman Jimmy Panetta, State Senator Anna
Caballero and Assemblymember Robert Rivas present to give them
encouraging words and present them with Congressional, State Senate and
Assembly Certificates.

Youth Advisor Vince Luna also had made 120 cupcakes for his LULAC youth
council graduates and parents. We share pride and celebrate the success of these
young leaders in our community. See this special moment from their shared
pictures in our newest Facebook photo album.
