At the end of the lesson, most pupils will be able to listen and colour the correct pictures with the phonemes /i/
M /n/ /m/ /d/.
At the end of the lesson, some pupils will be able to sound out the phonemes /i/ /n/ /m/ /d/ and segment the
C words with guidance.
I. PRE-LESSON 1. Guide the pupils to sing the phonics song.
1. Revise the phonemes /s/ /a/ /t/ /p/ by getting the pupils to say the words with the phonemes
/s/ /a/ /t/ /p/.
2. Write pupils’ responses on the board in tree map form.
3. Introduce the phonemes /i/ /n/ /m/ /d/.
4. Get the pupils to listen to, articulate the sounds and perform the actions.
5. Display chant chart on the board.
6. Recite the chant.
7. Pupils listen and follow.
II. LESSON
8. Get them to recite in groups.
DEVELOPMENT
9. Draw pupils’ attention to the words with the phonemes /i/ /n/ /m/ /d/ by showing flash cards to
the pupils.
10. Say the words. Pupils listen and follow.
11. Then, guide pupils to segment the words.
12. Distribute worksheet.
13. Say a word and articulate the phonemes.
14. Pupils listen and repeat.
15. Then, pupils colour the correct initial sounds.
1. Distribute worksheet.
 Low level: Pupils read the words and match them to the correct pictures.(worksheet A)
III. POST LESSON  High level: Pupils fill in the missing sounds. Then, match the words to the correct
pictures.( worksheet B)
2. Guide the pupils to complete the worksheet.
