Time Lesson

8:05 – 8:15 Thomas comes inside as soon as the whistle blows. He will hang all his things up in
Entry Transition the coatroom and enter the class. He puts his homework and communication books in
his mailbox. He should put on his vest. He then will take a few minutes to eat. He can
have as much time as he needs to eat. He puts his lunch box away when finished.
8:15 – 8:20 Thomas will open the O’ Canada book in his book box when the National Anthem
Announcements plays on the announcements. He uses his finger to point to the words throughout the
anthem.
8:20 – 8:30 Thomas will read 4-5 “D-F” leveled books out of his book box. He sometimes needs
Reading reminded to use his big voice when reading.
8:30 – 8:32 Thomas can have a break in the classroom. Let him know that he can have a break in
Classroom Break the room. He may decide to walk around the room, sit in the reading corner, use
number and alphabet puzzles, and write on white boards, months of the year cards,
play with train, use the iPad, and play dough.
8:32 – 8:35 Thomas has reading comprehension activities. He reads a couple sentences then
Reading answers the question with the correct picture/word card. He points to the correct
Comprehension answer and you record a + or – on the data sheet next to the date.
8:35 – 8:47 Thomas has 5 words each week to practice. He writes them on his white board 5 times
Spelling each. On Friday, he has a test using the chalkboard app on the iPad.
8:47 -8:50 Thomas can have a break in the classroom. Let him know that he can have a break in
Classroom Break the room. He may decide to walk around the room, sit in the reading corner, use
number and alphabet puzzles, write on white boards, months of the year cards, use the
iPad, and play dough.
8:50 – 9:00 Thomas will copy sentences into his writing book. The sentences should prepare him
Writing for the day (gym, music, changes in schedule etc). Thomas is also working on forming
sentences with his word cards. He is taking the words from a word bank to form the
sentences.
9:00 – 9:05 Thomas can have a break in the classroom. Let him know that he can have a break in
Classroom Break the room. He may decide to walk around the room, sit in the reading corner, use
number and alphabet puzzles, write on white boards, months of the year cards, use the
iPad, and play dough.
9:05 – 9:20 Thomas has a red folder with 2 speech activities. He is working on identifying
Speech Activities singular/plurals and action words. He requires a short break between the 2 activities.
He sometimes gets frustrated when doing these activities especially if they are not
ready for him.
9:20-9:25 Thomas can have a break in the classroom. Let him know that he can have a break in
Classroom Break the room. He may decide to walk around the room, sit in the reading corner, use
number and alphabet puzzles, write on white boards, months of the year cards, use the
iPad, and play dough.
9:25 – 9:35 Thomas has file folder sorting and matching activities that he can work on
Sorting / Matching independently. He practices saying the object and what group it belongs in. Please
Activities take a step back from him but stay close as he is learning to follow the independent
activity schedule. If you provide him with the schedule, he will get his materials as
they are in one basket on the shelf by his table.
9:35 – 9:45 Select a student to read with Thomas. Thomas can read one book and the student can
Buddy Reading read one short book. He is building stamina to read with someone as he doesn’t
always enjoy listening to the other student.
9:45 – 10:00 Thomas gets ready by himself. He doesn’t like snow pants so there is a visual to help
Recess him get dressed. If he is upset, the visual poster should be removed and his things
should be placed on the bench in the hall so that he can get dressed there. Thomas will
usually wait on the bench or by the doors to go outside until the teacher on duty is
ready. You should always be within arm reach of Thomas.
10:00 – 10:15 The students are eating their snack at this time. Thomas eats when he feels like it
Snack throughout the day so he may not eat at this time. He is able to just have a break but
should be wearing his vest.
10:15 -10:20 Thomas will read D-F level books from his book box.
Reading
10:20 – 10:25 Thomas can have a break in the classroom. Let him know that he can have a break in
Classroom Break the room. He may decide to walk around the room, sit in the reading corner, use
number and alphabet puzzles, write on white boards, months of the year cards, play
with Thomas, use the iPad, and play dough.
10:25 – 10:35 Thomas copies his number of the day sheet in his calendar book. He also copies a
Calendar Math couple sentences about the day.
10:35 – 10:40 Thomas can have a break in the classroom. Let him know that he can have a break in
Classroom Break the room. He may decide to walk around the room, sit in the reading corner, use
number and alphabet puzzles, write on white boards, months of the year cards, play
with Thomas, use the iPad, and play dough.
10:40 – 10:50 Thomas will practice his skip counting using the number cards. He will practice skip
Skip counting counting by 2,5,10 to 200. He places the cards in order then says the numbers.
10:50 -10:55 Thomas can have a break in the classroom. Let him know that he can have a break in
Classroom Break the room. He may decide to walk around the room, sit in the reading corner, use
number and alphabet puzzles, write on white boards, months of the year cards, play
with Thomas, use the iPad, and play dough.
10:55 – 11:05 Thomas will work on subitizing goal. Use a ten frame to show him the number of
Subitizing counters. He is working towards knowing how many on a ten frame without counting
each counter. If he doesn’t respond within 5 seconds, tell him the correct answer and
he will repeat.
11:05 -11:10 Thomas can have a break in the classroom. Let him know that he can have a break in
Classroom Break the room. He may decide to walk around the room, sit in the reading corner, use
number and alphabet puzzles, write on white boards, months of the year cards, play
with Thomas, use the iPad, and play dough.
11:10 – 11:20 Thomas is working on identifying the coins. He can match the coins to a chart that he
Money has. Place 2 coins on desk and ask him to hand you one for example nickel. Record a
+ or – on the data sheet attached.
11:20 – 11:25 Thomas can have a break in the classroom. Let him know that he can have a break in
Classroom Break the room. He may decide to walk around the room, sit in the reading corner, use
number and alphabet puzzles, write on white boards, months of the year cards, play
with Thomas, use the iPad, and play dough.
11:25 – 11:35 Thomas will count to 101 by ones using a hundred chart. Place random number of
Counting counters on table and get him to try one to one counting.
11:35 -11:55 Students are eating lunch. Thomas will often just relax during this time as he eats
Lunch throughout the day.
11:55 – 12:20 Thomas gets ready by himself. He doesn’t like snow pants so there is a visual to help
Recess him get dressed. If he is upset, the visual poster should be removed and his things
should be placed on the bench in the hall so that he can get dressed there. Thomas will
usually wait on the bench or by the doors to go outside until the teacher on duty is
ready. You should always be within arm reach of him outside. Thomas enjoys the
swings specifically the one closest to the door. If he requires a time out while outside,
approach him and talk to him about what he did. Take his hand and walk while you
are talking to him. When the whistle goes Thomas comes inside.
12:20 – 12:25 He comes in and gets ready for the afternoon. He should have his vest on for 5-10
Transition minutes.
12:25 -12:55 Thomas and Mrs. EA go to the kitchen to make grill cheese. There is a task analysis of
all the steps to making the grill cheese. He will complete the steps with some hand
over hand prompting for spreading the butter. When the sandwich is complete, he eats
it in the kitchen. He also must wash his dishes. He follows a task analysis for this as
well.
12:55 – 1:25 Music or gym at this time on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. Library at
this time on Tuesday.
1:25 Thomas packs up for home at 1:25. Please walk Thomas down to the junior end doors
to meet the bus.

Notes:
 Walks should be limited to the afternoon unless Thomas requests a walk using his words.
 The only time he is allowed to use the computer in the library is on Tuesdays during
library time after he has read his 2 books and signed out his book for the week. He then
gets free time on the computer.
 Thomas may request crash mat if he is upset. This is across the hall by Mrs. Teacher’s
room. This is only for when he requests or seems very upset.
 His juice should stay at the table behind him as he will throw it if he does get upset.
 If Thomas is asked to do something and refuses he should be given a choice of two
activities. Do not allow him to just sit there if you already asked him to work. Use a 1
minute timer if he will not do either choice. “First work then break” is the language we
use to make sure he knows he will get a break after.
