ANNOUNCEMENT & REVIEW

Please check these following tests and assignments. Make sure you check your scores and if you
haven’t done some parts of them, please complete it and after you finish, please let me know. If
you don’t check and you don’t submit your assignment, I will give you ZERO score. There
must be 11 scores in Schoology.

minutes only. Please use the time well & don’t be late. The test will start at 07.30 – 09.10 a.m.

THE ANSWERS AND DISCUSSION:


1. Conditional Clause Type 3. If + Past Perfect; S + would/could + have + V3
Why? The fact is in the past: John had an accident.
So, the answer is:
If he hadn’t drunk so much, he wouldn’t have had the accident.

2. Conditional Clause Type 3


Why? The fact is in the past: They didn’t win the football game.
So, the answer is:
They could have won the game if their best player had been there.

3. Conditional Clause Type 2. If + Past Simple; S would/could + V1


Why? The fact is in the present. She is very lazy
So, the answer is:
If I were her, I would do some homework.
REMEMBER; In conditional clause after I, the to be IS NOT was but WERE !!!!!!!!!!!

4. Conditional Clause Type 3 If + Past Perfect; S + would/could + have + V3


Why? The fact is in the past: John went to Germany.
The answer: He wouldn’t have gone if Hans hadn’t invited him.

5. Conditional Clause Type 1; If + Present Simple; S + will + V1


Why? The fact is in the present and it is possible to happen in the future.
So, the answer is:
We will go to France next year if we have enough money.

6. Conditional Type 3; If + Past Perfect; S + would/could + have + V3


Why? The fact is in the past: I did not feel ill
So, the answer is:
I did not feel ill anymore, but if I had felt ill yesterday, I would have gone to the doctor’s.

7. Conditional Clause Type 3


Why? The fact is in the past: Maria took up English.
So, the answer is:
If Maria had known English was so difficult. She would have taken it up.
8. Conditional Clause Type 3
Why? The fact is in the past: The computer helped me…
So, the answer is:
If it hadn’t helped me, I couldn’t have done it.

9. Conditional Clause Type 2 If + Past Simple; S would/could + V1


Why? The fact is in the present.
So, the answer is:
If I were her, I would look at the advertisements in the newspaper.

10. Conditional Clause Type 1; If + Present Simple, S + will + V1


Why? The fact is in the present and possible to happen in the future.
So, the answer is:
If she goes to London, she will visit the Tower.

If I had gone to bed earlier that Tuesday, I wouldn’t have felt that tired the following day.

Why? That’s the fact/ general truth.
Answer:
If it rains, the grass gets wet.

3. Conditional Clause Type 2


Why? The fact is in the present, contrary to the fact in the present.
Answer:
If she were at the office, she would answer the phone.

4. Conditional Clause Type 3


Why? The fact is in the past
Answer:
We wouldn’t have looked that happy if we hadn’t won the match.

5. Conditional Clause Type 2


Why? It’s contrary to the fact in the present
Answer:
You would not get the flu if you ate more fruit.
