Jake’s Cake
Jake wanted to bake a cake for his friend Drake. First, he had to take the
things he needed to make the cake. Then, he will shake the things in the
bowl. Last, Jake will bake the cake. Jake and Drake ate the yummy cake
at the lake.
Ask:
1. What did Jake make?
2. Who was the cake for?
3. They did they shake the things?
4. Who baked the cake?
5. Where did they ate the cake?
6. What did they do to the cake?

Say: Now, look at these sentences. Listen very well as I read them.
1. Jake wanted to bake a cake for his friend Drake.
2. He had to take the things he needed to bake the cake.
3. Jake and Drake ate the cake at the lake.
Say: Look at the underlined words in the sentence. They have long a
sounds when read. These words when pronounced will have a long (a)
sound like play, pay, cave, sale, etc.

The Paint
Paige loves to paint pictures. She got a new set of paints in the mail.
She painted many pictures. With the pink paint, she painted brains.
With the blue paint, she painted rain. With the yellow paint, she
painted a big sail. With a brown paint, she painted a big snail. The
paint dripped. “Oh, no!” said Paige. “I got a big stain on my shirt.”
