We are very excited to announce our newly organized music competition dubbed as Big Ben International
Online Music Competition 2020 where we intend to encourage musicians to enhance their skills and be a
competitive musician while staying at home especially this time of pandemic lockdowns.
This musical battle is open to all musicians (Pop Vocals, Musical Theatre, Piano, Guitar, Drums, Violin, Flute &
Saxophone)
It is the aim of the contest to encourage musicians of any age (Kids: 5-10 Yrs. old, Junior: 11-17 Yrs.
old, Senior: 18-30 Yrs. Old) who are currently just staying at home anywhere in the World due to
pandemic lockdowns to be musically productive and to showcase their talents to the public in the least
stressful environment through online platforms and be recognized not only locally but globally.
All participants will receive a Gold, Silver or Bronze certificate award depending on their score and the
certificate will be signed by all International Jury. (65 – 79: Bronze, 80 – 89: Silver, 90 – 100: Gold)
The top 3 participants of each category will automatically receive a Gold Certificate award and will also receive
a professional unbiased feedback of their playing in an essay form from our International Jury Panel based in
Europe and Asia.
The most outstanding among 3 Gold certificate awardee musicians in each category will be declared the
Grand Champions and will receive lots of amazing rewards from Big Ben International which includes but not
limited to
1. Grand Champion Title Certificate (Digital soft copy for those who are not residing in Jakarta)
2. Professional unbiased feedback of music performance in an essay form from our International Jury
Panel based in Europe and Asia. (Digital soft copy for those who are not residing in Jakarta)
Free One-month regular music lessons at Big Ben International with a professional expat music
teacher. (Online lessons for those who are not residing or cannot come to Jakarta)
3. Free Recording at Big Ben International Academy Music Recording Studio. **
4. Free Creative Music Video recording to be directed by Big Ben professional videographer and music
director. **
5. Free to Join the Big Ben International Academy Choir, Orchestra or Band. **

The joining process is remarkably simple as the participants will just send their uninterrupted recording of
their performance through email or by just sending a google drive link of the video file. The video will then
be posted on the official YouTube and Facebook / Instagram page of the organiser for everybody to watch.
In this way, there will be no travelling required and the participants all over the World will be reviewed and
judged easily by our respected International jury.
The Big Ben International Academy which is located in Golf Island, Pantai Indah Kapuk Jakarta has been
successful in staging International Standard Music Competition in Indonesia for the past years. It is well known
in organizing an inter-school music competition where most of the participants are coming from many
prestigious international and national plus schools in Indonesia.
The Big Ben International Academy is an International music and English language school affiliated to the
London College of Music Examinations of the University of West London UK. Its main goal to discover and
develop musical talents became its inspiration in organizing this music competition to be able to provide
unique opportunities to young musicians to be discovered, make a debut and be recognized in music World.
The company is manned by highly experienced professionals in the industry and WE ASSURE ALL
PARTICIPANTS THAT THE COMPETITION WILL BE HIGHLY CREDIBLE, FAIR AND PROFESSIONAL.
The Big Ben International Online Music Competition 2020 application (Video Submission) deadline
will be on or before the 27th of June 2020 and the judging result will be posted on the 4th of July 2020.

3. All inquiries and clarifications should be coursed through the Big Ben International administration
only.
4. Contestants are not permitted to have contact with any jury member during the time of their
participation in the competition. Failure to observe this rule may lead to disqualification of the
contestant.
5. The participant’s competition video will be available for viewing via the Internet.
6. The Big Ben International has the rights to share or broadcast the submitted competition videos of
the participants.
7. The Big Ben International and its authorized representatives do not have any financial obligations to
the contestants for the use of the materials obtained.
8. By submitting the entries online, the participants confirm the acceptance of all conditions and rules
of the competition.
1. Applications may be submitted by sending the performance video file or google drive link through
email with the following details.
A. Complete name of participant
B. Date of Birth (With proof like school ID, Passport or National ID)

4. All rewards and certificates will be sent through a local courier in Jakarta within one to two weeks after
the declaration of winners. (Digital soft copy files will be sent through email)
• The Big Ben Online Music Competition 2020 Video Submission deadline will be on or before
the 27th of June 2020 and the judging results will be posted on the 4th of July 2020.
• The Big Ben International will not entertain incomplete and late applications.
• In the event of withdrawal of the participant, registration fee will not be refunded.
• A non-refundable Registration Fee of IDR 250,000 shall be deposited to the BCA account of PT
MARIDA EDUTAMA BHAKTI with account number 8650752989. A photo image as proof of bank
transfer must be emailed to competitions@bigbeninternational.com
PIANO:
• All participants will receive a Gold, Silver or Bronze certificate award depending on their score and the

Hugh Sutton, BA(Hons), Med, ARCM, FRSA, PGCE
Jongky Goei
Joy T. Nilo
Hugh gained his Masters in Education from the University of Exeter. He was elected a Fellow of the Royal
Society of Arts in 2008 and Freeman of the City of London in 2012.
Prior to leading the Music Department of St Mary’s Calne, Hugh Sutton was Director of Music at the Royal
Russell School in Croydon, Conductor of the Carshalton Choral Society and Director of Music at St Michael’s
Church, West Croydon. As an experienced professional musician, Hugh’s specialisms include Voice, Piano,
Keyboard, Organ and Music Theatre.
Having led Music Departments in England for the past 30 years, he is also experienced in working with
individuals of all ages and directing many award winning choirs, orchestras, bands and ensembles. Hugh
continues to pursue a busy career as a Bass soloist, teacher, educational consultant and full-time Senior
Examiner for the London College of Music across the world.
As a CONDUCTOR, he led the keyboard orchestra of the International Academy for Intercultural Development
Qatar to a concert at Qatar National Convention Center. He also led the God’s Awesome Power Chamber Choir,
Koro Stigmatino, Westfield Science Oriented School Choir and The Stigmatine Seminary Choir to various concerts,
TV appearances and recordings. As a PERFORMER, he appeared as singer, pianist and musical director for the
United Nations Environment Program’s World Environment Day celebration 2011 at the Qatar National Theatre;
singer and band director for Doha Tribeca Film Festival 2011 at Katara Cultural Village; and a baritone choir member
of the Ateneo de Manila University College Glee Club for the World choir competitions, concerts and festivals in
Spain, Italy, Germany, Austria and the Netherlands.
As a MUSICAL THEATRE DIRECTOR, he directed and choreographed the successful musical theatre productions of
"A Day of Broadway, The Sound of Music and The Wizard of Oz" at various International Schools in Jakarta. He also
successfully directed and organized two music competitions in Jakarta; the Big Ben Inter-School Singing Stars and
most recently the Big Ben Inter-School Music Festival.
And as a TEACHER, he prepared International students to pass with distinction awards the London College of Music
Examinations. He also trained students who became finalists and champions in various local and international
music competitions most recently the Asia Pacific Arts Festival held in Singapore and Vietnam where all of his 5
students from Indonesia received the gold trophy awards and one from the Philippines got the gold and best
performer award.
David was also featured in Entrepreneur Magazine of Summit Media Corporation as a young musician and
entrepreneur in a two-page article entitled, "Strike the Right Notes"
He is a former music teacher, Grade 7 homeroom adviser and the computer, arts, music and foreign language
department (CAMP-FL) head of the MIT International School Philippines. He worked as a music teacher and music
centre director for the Jakarta Multicultural School in Indonesia. He is also a former music teacher and musical
director for events at the International Academy for Intercultural Development Qatar. He also worked as a music
teacher and choir conductor of the Westfield Science Oriented Schools and Colleges, St. John Bosco School, St.
John the Baptist Parochial School and St. Gaspar Bertoni College Seminary.
Currently, David works as Programme Director of the Big Ben International Academy for Music, English and
Performing Arts Indonesia and the Saraza Music Center “International Center for Music, Academics and Arts”
Philippines.
Jongky Goei
Jongky Goei is a piano teacher and impresario (theatre manager)
as well as producer of performing arts praised for his all-round
nature and his many years of work with children and professional
artists. A clear, analytic and profound musical insight is evident
in his educational methods as teacher and in his way of working
as manager. Born in Indonesia and based in Germany, Jongky
Goei enrolled at the Musikhochschule (Conservatory) of
Trossingen, where he studied with Prof. Horst Maihöfer. He took
masterclasses with a 2 number of significant piano teacher in his
day. Jongky Goei concluded his Diplom's study in 1982 by
graduating with the Highest Distinction in performance and
education. By winning the prestigious Lang Lang International
Music Foundation for Young Pianist in 2009, Jongky Goei’s
student, Cynthia Maya Bal positioned herself at the top of a new
generation of pianists in Germany. Not to mention the fact that Jongky Goei has made a number of his
student ready for music study and piano competition. His repertoire ranges from 3 seventeenth-century music
to contemporary compositions. Jongky has a special affinity with romantic music; works by Schubert,
Mendelssohn and Chopin are often part of his concerts and teaching programmes. Jongky Goei is a
multitalented personality. Apart from his enthusiasm for teaching piano he is also an event organiser and a
passionate stage art producer. No wonder that he initiates and organises master course, concert, stage
production and guest performance with his own students. According to his experience there is no reason not
to start with early child music education.
Joy T. Nilo
Joy Tavas Nilo built a music career that spans over 4 decades
through his various capacities as composer, conductor,
adjudicator, music educator, collaborating pianist and
singer. He is currently the President of Kompositor (Group
of Filipino Choral Composers), Vice President (Membership)
of the Philippine Choral Directors Association (PCDA),
founding member of The Asian Composers Forum (ACF) and
member of Filipino Society of Composers Authors and
Publishers (FilSCAP).
His works have been published by various companies such as Pavane Publishing in the US, Bandung Choral
Society of Indonesia, Methodist School of Music in Singapore, and The Philippine Madrigal Singers and
Kompositor in the Philippines.
He regularly travels to various communities in the Philippines, Indonesia, Malaysia and Singapore to give
lectures in singing, conducting and composition.
