Background & project summary

Diplomatic Reception (or Night) is one of the most common formal event held by a state or
international organizations. It may refers to different receptions or ceremonies, held on the
occasion of national holidays, historically significant dates, arrival of foreign delegations
like head of state or government.

To commemorate our 1st anniversary, Syahid MUN Club ​will host it’s anniversary reception
exclusively for members of Syahid MUN Club where members represent as the invited
states and is hosted by the president of Syahid MUN Club. Syahid MUN will also invite the
organization’s partners and colleagues to be in part in this historical event.

The D-Day also known as Operation Overlord is when ​more than 160,000 Allied troops
landed on the beaches of Normandy (France) on June 6 1944, to begin the operation that
would liberate Western Europe from Nazi Germany’s control. It was one of the most
complicated military feats as well as ​The largest amphibious (land and water) invasion in
history. The theme will bring the event on how important is the diplomacy in negotiating
conflict and war through multilateral system to prevent what is called the D-Day in the time of
World War II and bring the the idea of the D-Day today as way to mitigating conflict through
peaceful means as an etiquette and protocol of a diplomat.

Objective and Expected Outputs

The overall goal of the celebration is to increase the capacity of members of Syahid MUN
Club and its invited guests to the world of diplomacy and international relations and
transform it to the idea on how diplomacy can also happen outside of the multilateral forum.
The expected output at the end of the session include :
1. To increase the understanding of diplomatic etiquette and protocol
2. To transform Model United Nations (MUN) as the area of self development
3. To share information and experience in Model United Nations (MUN) related
programmes

Proposed activities
The activities for Diplomacy Night 2019 will be divided into two activities:
1. Diplomacy Day
This event is dedicated to Syahid MUN Club members, where there will be activities
that will build soft skills and contribute to the capacity building on members.
Members will be able to interact with each other and there will be a lot of talk
regarding our community, and share a lot of things together.

2. Diplomacy Night
An annual anniversary reception exclusively for members of Syahid MUN Club and
external relations, where members represent as the invited states and is hosted by
the president of Syahid MUN Club.
