Curriculum by Division

Tech Olympiad Curriculum


Division P
Section 1:

Patterns, Analogy and Classification, Coding-Decoding, Mirror Images, Embedded Figures, Alphabet
Test, Ranking Test, Grouping of Figures, Figure Matrix, Basic Geometrical Shapes, Days and Dates &
Possible Combinations.

Section 2:

Microsoft Office basics (Office 2010 used for test questions) - MS Paint, Word, and PowerPoint only,
Fundamentals of Computer, General Information about Computers, Storage Devices, Parts of
Computer, Uses of Computer, Input and Output Devices, Introduction to Internet.
Basic programming concepts - understanding variables, and simple conditional constructs.
Note that students will not be expected to write code or algorithms. They should, however, expect to
read simple algorithms and find results from them.

Division I:
Section 1:

Verbal and Non-Verbal Reasoning, Patterns, Analogy and Classification, Coding-Decoding, Geometrical
Shapes, Mirror Images, Embedded Figures, Direction Sense Test, Ranking Test, Alphabet Test and
Logical Sequence of Words, Puzzle Test.
Section 2:

Microsoft Office Concepts (Office 2010 used for test questions) - MS Paint, Word, PowerPoint, and
Excel (not including Macros).
Programming Concepts - understanding variables, conditional constructs, loops, Internet, Viruses, Basic
Networking, Latest Developments in the field of technology.
Basic understanding of relational databases. Queries, triggers, stored procedures NOT required.
Curriculum by Division

Division M:
Section 1:

Verbal and Non-Verbal Reasoning, Patterns, Analogy and Classification, Coding-Decoding, Geometrical
Shapes, Mirror Images, Embedded Figures, Direction Sense Test, Ranking Test, Alphabet Test and
Logical Sequence of Words, Puzzle Test.

Section 2:

Microsoft Office Concepts (Office 2010 used for test questions) - Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
(including Formulas, Sorting and Filtering data, Macros)
Programming Concepts - understanding variables, conditional constructs, loops, data
structures, Algorithms and Flowcharts in Programming, Hardware, Software, Input & Output Devices,
Memory & Storage Devices, Flash, Communication Technology (Networking, Internet and Multimedia),
Operating Systems (Types-Interactive, GUI based, Real Time and Distributed, Commonly used OS),
Windows, Latest Developments in the field of technology.
