A Semi-detailed Lesson Plan in Mathematics VI

I. Objectives
At the end of class discussion, 80% of the pupils will be able to:
A. divide decimals by 0.1, 0.01, 0.001 mentally
B. place decimal point correctly
C. develop patience and persistence trough solving problems.
Value Focus : Value of keen observing/ observe being thrift
II. Subject Matter
Topic: DIVISION OF DECIMALS BY 0.1, 0.01 and 0.001.
Materials: dice, jigsaw puzzle, prezi presentation, activity sheet, manila paper
with border, speaker, show me board, weighing scale, plastic and salt.

III. Procedure
A. Preliminaries
1. Drill
Multiplying numbers by power 10 using die.
a. The teacher shows the dice with equation on each face.
b. The teacher plays a song, and the pupils will pass the dice;
Once the song stops, the pupils also stop passing the dice.
c. Whoever has the dice, he needs to roll the dice and answer
the equation.

5 x 10
=

5 x 40
= 5 x 100
5 x 400
=
=

5 x 1,000
=

5 x 4,000

2. Review
Multiplying decimals by 0.1, 0.01 or 0.001. Jigsaw Puzzle
a. The teacher shows some puzzle piece. Each piece has an equation at the
back of it for solving.

b. One at a time, the volunteers will pick one, then will read the problem
aloud and give the answer orally.
c. Pupils check the given answers.
d. If the answer is correct, the pupil will assemble the pieces of paper that
will form a jigsaw puzzle. The image to be formed is “Naic Public
Market”
3. Motivation.

 What have you noticed about the image?

 have you experience dto go to a store to buy something?
 If it has change, will you return it to your mother? Why?

B. Lesson proper
1. Teaching/Modeling

Kuya Lito, went to Naic Public Market to buy 0.50 kilogram of salt. When
he came home, he divided the salt into one-tenths and placed it in plastic bags for
future use. How many plastic bags of salt were there?

2. Analysis
 Where did Kuya Lito go?
 What did he buy in the market?
 What did he do with the salt?
 What is asked in the problem?
 What are the given facts?
 What operation to be used in solving the problem?
 Base on the given facts and operation to be use, what is our new topic?
 Use the weighing scale, to divide the 0.50 kg of salt to 0.1.
 What is the number sentence?
 How many bags of salt were there?
 How will you divide 0.50 by 0.1?
 How many bags of salt were there?
 What can you say about Kuya Lito?
 If you were, Kuya Lito would you do the same thing? Why?
 Do you also save for the future? How?
3. Guided Practice
Fill in with the missing digit.
1.) 125.34 ÷ 0.1 = 1253._
2.) 6.837÷ 0.01 = _83.7
3.) 49.62÷ 0.0001= 4962_
4.) 0.9 ÷ 0.01= _0
5.) 13.245 ÷0.001 = 132_5
4. Independent Practice (Show me board)
Solve for N. Divide as fast as you can.
1.) 24.25÷ 0.1 = N
2.) 531.4÷ 0.01 = N
3.) 4.876÷ 0.01= N
4.) 2.99÷ 0.001= N
#SELFIE
5.) 4.0934÷0.001 = N Showed our work
IV. Generalization
Explained our
 How will you divide decimals by 0.1, 0.01
or 0.001? answer
 What is the pattern in dividing decimals by Lots of math
0.1, 0.01 or0.001? vocabulary used
Found solution
To divide decimals by 0.1 ,0.01 or 0.001, move the decimal point to the right of the dividend
according I persevered
V. to the number of decimal places in the divisor.
Application
Through the
problem.
Eliminated careless
errors
 The teacher gives the activity sheet to each group.
 Once the groups finish the activity, they need to post the manila paper and
take a selfie with it.
 Once they are done showing and explaining their work, they will be graded
based on the rubrics.

4.) What is the quotient If 2.7165 is divided by one-tenths?
5.) It is the quotient when 22.5567 is divided by 0.01 ______.

VII. Assignment
What does protect us from ultraviolet rays of the sun that can cause cancer? To
find out, divide the following numbers and arrange the answer from least to
greatest. Then write the letters on the box.
