History of Dabur Limited

Dabur india limited was established on 16 th September


1975. Its is one og the leader in FMCG sector. It is the manufacturer of high grade
edible and industrial powder and its sophisticated byproducts. Now the it is one of
the leading FMCG companies in India with building on a legacy of quality and
experience for over the years, Dabur is today India's most trusted name and the
world's largest Ayurvedic and Natural Health Care Company. The company
portfolio includes five brands with distinct identity,which makes dabur as the
trusted name and the world largest natural health care and ayurvedic company.
Vatika for premium personal care, Hajmola for digestives, Real for fruit-based
drinks and Anmol for affordable personal care products.

A bramded ayurvedic medic used for digestion problems is launched


as “Hajmola” tablet in the year 1978. Exactly after one year, research foundation
of dabur was set up and also commercial production of the most modern herbal
medicines plant was started at Sahibabad. Dabur had launched the pharmaceutical
medicines in the year 1988. During the year 1989, the company made a care with
fun by the way of its business strategy, Ayurvedic digestive formulation was
converted into a children's fun product with the launch of Hajmola Candy.
Childrens and youth was very much impressed by this candy. . During the year
1992, a new range of coconut oil under the brand name `Anmol' was launched.
The company did a great social work by developing Dab 10, a substitute for anti-
cancer drug namely Taxol.

After the success of its Hajmola candy. Dabur thought about adding
some more to its product line. The company got into a joint venture M/s.
Guldenhorst BV Netherland in order to form a company for manufacturer and
marketing of all types of bubble gum ,chewing gum, , toffees, chocolate, cocoa
related products and sugar based spreading creams etc. The company entered into
capital market, Dabur came out with its public issue in the year 1994 and also in
the same year DIL had entered into oncology segment. An integrated facility was
designed at Alwar for manufacture of Ayurvedic Veterinary range.

The company further wanted to expand and tap the cookies and
snacks market,therefore it had signed a MOU with Osein International Ltd for
manufacture of biscuits, snack, foods & other products in India. During the year
1995, in addition to the existing products, the company had exported products like
an improved version of Chyawanprash(with more honey and less pungency)
liquid form of Chyawanprash an aqueous based, hair vitalizer Melatonine etc.

The success og its new products line gave thw company a boost to
innovate and expand. Further The Company had entered into fruit juice business
with the launch of Real Fruit Juice in the year 1996, the first local brand of 100%
pure natural fruit juices made to international standards. The real fruit juices was
perfectly liked by the consumers. The Company had set up a new manufacturing
unit with a high degree of automation at Baddi (H.P.) to produce company's well-
known brands i.e. Chyawanprash, Janma Ghunti, Ayurvedic Oils and Asva-
Arishtas. Burman family hands over the management of the company to
professionals in the year 1998.
The cpmpany further in the year 1998 signed a jount venture with
bongrain International limited of france to form a new companyunder the name of
“Dabon International Limited” fter a year, in 1999, DIL had entered into an
agreement with its Spanish partner Agrolimen to offload its 49 per cent stake in
the joint venture company General De Confiteria India Ltd in favour of an
Agrolimen group company. During the year 2000 dabur ayurvedic department
launched pain relief tablets under the brand name “Nature Care”.
