REAL LAWYER vs MOVIE LAWYER

In this episode, from the start, he already said that there are some scenes in
movies that are really similar with what’s happening in the actual trial court. But also
there also those things that were not portrayed in movies like the rebuttalmof the
witnesses. Movies also add a lot more drama in trial court than the actual court
proceedings like how the witness opine to the question and against the lawyer, it is not
likely to happen in actual court proceedings as you can be held in contempt or you
might prejudice the case. The movie Lawyer sometimes become lenient as it does not
object to the answers of the witness — again maybe, to add more drama.

It is a well settled rule taht witness cannot ask questions to the Lawyer. It is the
other way around. In actual court proceedings, once the witness takes that stand, it
answers responsibely to the question. This does not always happen in movies.
Sometimes the witness is the one who is asking question to the Lawyer. If that happens
in real life, the judge would warn the witness to only answer responsively to the
question. Same goes for the Lawyer, a real lawyer knows well enough that a witness is
not allowed to ask questions, so what he must do is to stop responding and to object.
But in movies, Lawyers sometimes tend to forget the rule and for a lot of times, forget to
object.
