EXTRA PRACTICE

1. ACTIVE OR PASSIVE. CHOOSE THE CORRECT FORM.


Example: I don’t being asked / asking about my age.
a. Most criminals are afraid of catching / being caught red-handed.
b. Babies need to be fed / to feed well in order to avoid health problems in the future.
c. Mobile phones have to be turned off / to turn off when you board a plane.
d. Please, avoid using / being used contractions while typing your essay.
e. This job can’t do / be done by any person. We need an expert.
f. I have an important meeting and I don’t want to disturb / to be disturbed.
g. Jack’s really proud of choosing / being chosen for the national team.
h. Mark promised to lend / to be lent us the money, didn’t he?
i. It’s horrible to sack/to be sacked unfairly.
j. Being expelled / Expelling from high school would be embarrassing.

2. CHOOSE THE CORRECT OPTION. PUT A TICK IF BOTH OPTIONS ARE POSSIBLE.
Example: It´s frustrating to lose / losing a match in the last minute.

3. COMPLETE THE SENTENCES WITH THE GERUND OR INFINITIVE OF THE VERBS IN BRACKETS.
Note. Sometimes more than one option is possible.
