Important points:

 Referencing and citation are not required in content writing and are used in academic
writing.
 Assignments are always written from the third person's view unless until mentioned in
the assignment to write it from the first person's viewpoint.
 There are two types of citations- Direct and Indirect.
 Citations can be done either in alphabetical order or chronological order.
 Hyperlink will be removed from website referencing
 Always sort the references A-Z
 Write the location of publisher in books (Both Harvard and APA). Location can be either
the place where the book is published or the headquarter of that particular publisher
 Remove pp, bracket and comma before the year in Harvard (not in APA).
 In APA: et. al., is used for more than 5 authors whereas in Harvard: et al. is used for more
than 3 authors
 For APA: &
 For Harvard: and
 In-text citation is always done in the end of the sentence before the full stop and not in
the middle of the sentence. Moreover, it is better if we insert in-text citation somewhere
in-between the paragraph. Try to use the intexting very less in the end of the paragraph.
 If one citation is used at two places than at the first place write all authors name, but in
the second place it is not required to write all authors name and "et al." can be used.
 When the same authors are repeated with same year in the references but the information
extracted is different. i.e. the title of both the reference is different then we cite them like
this: It is for both intext citation and main reference list

The times of India. (2019a)

The times of India. (2019b)

Indirect Citation
Title page APA 9

a) While citing, always write the last name of the author, year, page number. If its a single page
write single p and if there range of pages then write double p. Example- Sharma, 2016, PP. 52-67
or Sharma, 2016, P-55.

b) If one information is given by more than one author then the citation will be written as-
(Sharma, 2016; Verma, 2017). Either write it in alphabetical order or year wise.

Intexting for direct and indirect citation

Direct citation: Generally used in literature review and starts with words like’

As stated by (Kim and Bae 2017)

According to (Kim and Bae 2017)

The author (Kim and Bae 2017) suggests that

As mentioned by (Kim and Bae 2017)

As given by (Kim and Bae 2017)

Indirect citation
