NOTE: THIS IS NOT FOR APPLICATIONS OF THE ACCELERATION CHART! / DIRECTIONS: All numbers are feet and inches [So, 4’7”(2) = four feet seven inches for 2 spaces]. Each line of numbers
orders a progressively spaced series of 6” hurdles (“banana” hurdles) slats, etc. For the best result, it is strongly recommended to choreograph a 6 stride run-in to the wickets.
HOW TO SET THE RUN-IN: Logic dictates that the run-in stride over the first hurdle (t6 to t7) is exactly the same length as the space between the first two hurdles (h1 and h2), ideally with ground
contact midway between the first two hurdles. Example: if the space between the first two hurdles is 5’4”, then the stride over the first hurdle is also 5’4”. So takeoff for the first over-hurdle
stride must be 2’8” before hurdle 1 and touchdown is 2’8” after hurdle 1 (total stride = 5’4”). Then count back toward the start to mark the other run-in steps in reverse order (5,4,3,2,1,0), by
educing each stride by 3 inches (5’4”, 5’1”, 4’10”, etc.). Now train! Athlete should hit every run-in stride as marked. Ground contacts should be midway between the wickets, not close to them.
