2. Intervening Phrases & Clauses

Rule:

Phrase (def)

Wallace,” does not change the number of the subject, “Hines Ward.”)

Clause (def)

The Steelers, who were undefeated last season, are coached by Mike Tomlin. (The clause “who
were undefeated last season” does not change the number of the subject, “Steelers”)
