We used to put packing around the stem and compact to ensure tightness of the stem which sticks out of the cover. But
now we apply the retightening force of the spring to the surface between the packing and that between the stem shoulder
and the cover shoulder to ensure tightness. The opening torque will be reduced.

Fire Safe and Anti-Static Design for Side Entry

Trunnion Mounted Ball Valves Design Feature

1. 2.
Blow-out Proof Stem Anti-Static Device
Stem lower end is integral T shaped designed to be blow-out proof. It is When static are generated and concentrated on the ball, the spring-loaded
internally inserted and functions as the backseat for assured stem sealing at pins installed on ball, stem are provided to ensure electrical continuity
all pressures throughout the valve.

3. Fire Safe Seat Sealing

When non-metal sealing material are decomposed or deteriorated by a plant fire, the upstream line pressure pull the ball into contact with the metal seat lip
beneath the soft seat to shut off the line fluid to minimize the internal leakage. Additionally, the fire safe metal seat can prevent the line pressure
erosion on soft seat and minimize soft seat creep deformation. All LANUS floating valves fire safe is designed and test certified in
accordance with API 607.

4. Low Emission Control

For the elimination of air pollution, it is essential to control the fugitive emissions leakage of various chemicals from valves in your chemical
plant. LANUS low emissions ball valves installed with our emissions defense packing have been designed and tested to meet the 100 PPM
maximum emission level (acceptance test per Shell SPE 77/312). This is LANUS standard specification for all series.

5. Weather proof
Live Loaded Gland Flange
Live loading is designed to provide gland load retention, compensating for expected in-service consolidation of the packing. A set of
Belleville-Spring Washers are used on each gland stud to help exert a continuous compressive force on the gland follower flange and
therefore reduce fugitive emissions from the stem packing. LANUS standard Belleville-Spring Washers are protected by a weatherproof cap
to keep them free from environmental contamination, resulting in a long
Controlled Stem & Stuffing Box Finish
The stem surface finish is controlled between Ra0.4 and Ra0.8 which will ensure the graphite to fill and migrate into the stems micro
scratches, and function as a lubricant to reduce stem leakage. The stuffing box surface is controlled to a maximum of Ra3.2, a reasonably
rougher surface finish to allow for better holding of the packing ring and results in a better sealing performance.

Valves. Providing a full description of the valve is given. Our sales office will translate this into
A figure number. A full descriptions of the valve would begin with Lubricated Type Plug
Valve Pressure Balanced Valve and would then go on to give size, pressure rating, flanging
details etc,.
We give an example below in order to illustrate a typical figure number. But if a fuller
Explanation is required please feel free to contact us by email.

How to avoid problems

Ball valves shall be transported and stored with the ball in the fully open position.
Flanged ends and welded ends shall be protected.
End protection shall be removed only when the valve is installed in the line.
Valves shall be handled using the proper lifting lugs.
Valves shall be stored according to Lanus storage procedures. Long term storage shall be avoided.
For Welded end valve, advise Lanus if there will be a postweld heat treatment (transition pups may be necessary to voids damages to
to seals).
Flush and clean the line before operating the valve.
Make sure no-line testing flush is left in the line and/or the valve body.
Avoild leaving the valve body filled with salt water to prevent internal corrosion.
During line-testing, valves shall be left in the partially open position for the minimum possible of the time.
Standard ball valves shall be use for on-off service only. Throttling service (use of the valve with the ball partially open) can damage the
seats.
Make sure to take into consideration the actual service conditions when selecting materials for O-rings and seat insert.
Always specify ant-explosive docompression materials for valves to be used in high pressure gas service.
Make sure the seleced actuator has been properly sized ( an oversized actuator can be as dangerous as an undersized one).
Advise Lanus of cycle frequency to ensure proper sizing of actuator.
Do not use the actuator to lift the valve.

WARRANTY CLAUSE
WARNING : Lanus Industries LLC USA will not accept claims for damages due to poor handling on site and/or for valves service
conditions different from the one for which they have been manufactured and sold by Lanus Industries LLC USA.

In any case in which Lanus Industries LLC USA is not make aware of the actual use of the valves (e.g. valves ordered by a third party,
such as a Stockiest) it is responsibility of the third party and/or of the user to verify the suitability of the valve materials and design for
the medium and service conditions in which the valves will be use.

requirements are given for direct spring-loaded pressure relief valves and pilot-operated pressure relief valves as follows: orifice
designation and area; valve size and pressure rating, inlet and outlet; materials; pressure-temperature limits; and center-to-face
dimensions, inlet and outlet.
• API 527
Seat Tightness of Pressure Relief Valves R(2002). Describes methods of determining the seat tightness of metal- and soft-seated
pressure relief valves, including those of conventional, bellows, and pilot-operated designs.
• ANSI/API STD 594
Check Valves: Flanged, Lug, Wafer and Butt-welding. API Standard 594 covers design, material, face-to-face dimensions,
pressure-temperature ratings, and examination, inspection, and test requirements for two types of check valves.
• API 598
Valve Inspection and Testing. The standard covers inspection, supplementary examination, and pressure test requirements for
both resilient-seated and metal-to-metal seated gate, globe, plug, ball, check, and butterfly valves. Pertains to inspection by the
purchaser and to any supplementary examinations the purchaser may require at the valve manufacturer's plant.
• ANSI/API 599
Metal Plug Valves - Flanged, Threaded and Welding Ends. A purchase specification that covers requirements for metal plug
valves with flanged or butt-welding ends, and ductile iron plug valves with flanged ends, in sizes NPS 1 through NPS 24, which
correspond to nominal pipe sizes in ASME B36.10M. Valve bodies conforming to ASME B16.34 may have flanged end and one
butt-welding end. It also covers both lubricated and nonlubricated valves that have two-way coaxial ports, and includes
requirements for valves fitted with internal body, plug, or port linings or applied hard facings on the body, body ports, plug, or plug
port.
• ANSI/API 600
Bolted Bonnet Steel Gate Valves for Petroleum and Natural Gas Industries - Modified National Adoption of ISO 10434:1998.
