Q1 - 2020

Between January 1st, 2020 and March 31st, 2020 (Q1), there were 18 incidents where use of force
was reported by officers. Below is a breakdown demonstrating the highest level of force used during each
incident. The data show that 72.22% of use of force incidents were physical. Taser deployment (drive stun)
accounted for 11.11% of use of force incidents. Taser warnings accounted for 5.56% of the use of force
incidents. A firearm pointed at a subject accounted for 5.56% of the use of force incidents. Lastly, baton
use accounted for 5.56% of use of force incidents.

Of the 18 incidents where force was used, 66.67% resulted in an individual being placed in police
custody. 22.22% were incidents where a Section 12 was established by either the Framingham Police
Department or third party agency. 5.56% of the incidents where forced was used resulted in an advised,
and an additional 5.56% of the incidents resulted in suspect fleeing the scene.

In Q1 of 2020, the majority (61.11%) of incidents where force was used, the subject was White,
followed by Black (33.33%), and followed by Hispanic (5.56%). Furthermore, the majority (77.78%) of
incidents where force was used, the subject was male and 22.22% of the subjects were female. For a

Of the 18 incidents where force was used, there were only two occasions where an officer was
injured. This accounts for 11.11% of the data. During the other 18 incidents, an officer was not injured.
Similarly, the vast majority of subjects were not injured when force was used. Of the 18 incidents, there
were two subjects that were injured. This accounts for 11.11% of the data. During the other 16
incidents, the subject was not injured.
