LITERACY:
CVC Word Matching
Matching Cards
Using the cards above, match the picture
to the correct word. This is a great way to
practice sight words and work on letter-
sound recognition. You could also use the
word cards as a “find the word” activity by
asking your child to “point to the word dog.”
There are so many ways to use these cards!
Find the Missing Vowel
Missing Letter Cards
Vowel sounds are one of the toughest
skills for young readers to master. These
cards are a great way to learn the sounds!
While they can be confusing, the picture aids
will help your child be able to identify the
word and corresponding vowel sound.
Book a Day Challenge
Book Tracking Sheet
Reading aloud is proven to be one of the best ways to
encourage literacy development. Use the tracking sheet
above to count how many books you have read!
Blend Puzzles
Puzzle Pieces
Since your child has mastered letter-
sounds, it is time to start learning blends!
Blends are two letters put together that
make one sound. These picture puzzles
will help your child identify the blends
using picture guides!
MATH:
Comparing Numbers
Alligator Symbols
Use the symbols linked above to compare
numbers with your child! You could use toys,
game pieces, dice, or the number fluency
cards. Comparing numbers is an important
skill and a prerequisite to ordering numbers.
Toothpick Shapes
Shape Cards
Geometry accounts for a large
portion of most primary math curriculums.
Using the task cards above, your child can
learn and build shapes. The activity
recommended playdough and toothpicks,
but there are a lot of other materials that
can be used. This is a great activity to
learn shapes and build fine motor skills!
Spin and Graph
Graphing Resources
Graphing is a skill your child will use
forever, and it starts early! Using the
attached resource, spin and graph the bears.
This activity is very simple but will help lay
the foundation for more advanced concepts.
Be sure to ask questions like, “What color of
bear to we have the most of? The least? How
many to we have all together?”
Salt Dough can also be used as a science experiment. Let your child
try to create the recipe on their own! They will have to decide what
they need more or less of in order to make the best dough possible!
