Quantum of Loss: Goods worth 3.3 lakhs rupees

Reported Loss: Fire broke out on 03 June 2020 at Cotton warehouse facility in Jalgaon. Around 65 quintals of cotton burnt in fire.
No casualties reported in the incident.

Probable Cause of Loss: Electrical Short Circuit

Preventive Measures:

1. ABC, CO2, DCP, Foam type of Fire extinguishers to be installed in adequate numbers as per IS 2190.

2. Electrical Wiring and installations should be in accordance with NFPA 70.

3. Smoke detectors should be installed in the premises as per TAC regulations.

4. Fire Hydrant system with adequate fire water capacity to be installed in the premises as per IS 3844.

5. General storage practice has to be followed as per NFPA 231.

6. Electrical fittings used in the warehouse premises should be in accordance with the IS 1913.

7. Fire Alarm system to be installed as per guidelines of NFPA 72.

8. Water sprinklers to be installed as per NFPA 13 guidelines.

9. Stacks of materials should be stored in a way that it would prevent fire spread to all the materials.
