Reported Loss: No Causalities.
Description of Loss:
A fire broke out in the Reliance Trends building located near Benz Circle. The fire, which broke out on the first floor where
the company’s footwear store Footprint is located, Thick smoke billowed out of the store even as firefighters were trying to
put out the fire.

Fire Fighting Challenges:

1. The Fire Spread to the all floors.

2. The smoke engulfs Quickly entire blocks.
3. 06 fire tenders are fought few hours to douse the flames.

Probable Cause of Loss: Short Circuit.

Preventive Measures:
1. Combustible materials should not be stored close to electrical panel board.
2. Fire extinguishers should be installed as per IS 2190:1992. Manual call point and Public Address system to be installed.
3. Smoke Detection sensor with addressable smoke alarm panel should be installed in the security room and follow IS 2189(2008).
4. Fire hydrant system with adequate water capacity should be maintained as per IS 3844.
5. Wiring and installations should comply with NFPA 70.
6. Building should have setback area around the building to fight the fire during any emergency.
7. Fire Evacuation plan & Fire Escape points should be displayed and Emergency lights to be provided in all exit points
8. Emergency exit should be free from blockage & Fire Door Should be installed in all floor.
9. Electrical safety audit should be conduct periodically.
10. Sprinkler system should be installed as per NFPA 13.
11. Fire Sealing has to be done for cables passing from one section to another section.
12. Electrical cables should be properly installed through cable trays and steel conduits as per IS 732(1989).
13. Provide adequate ventilation to Battery room & Provide modular type automatic fire extinguisher in battery room.
14. Should have No objection certificate from fire department.
15. Electrical load sharing has to be reviewed periodically.
16. Fire Service Inlet & Fire Brigade inlet to be installed in the entrance of the Building.
17. CCTV cameras should be installed in the premises to monitor suspicious activities.
