MOUNTING INSTRUCTIONS

1. Check that all components listed in loose part list are delivered. Then check them for
damages or defects. If any major damages or defects are identified, please write a detailed
report. Where necessary, the affected parts must be repaired. (Example of major damages:
bent nozzles or guidings, dents on pipes or shells.)

2. Remove all covers used for preservation during the transport and storage.

3. Weld the delivered counter flanges to the pipeline.

4. Lift and put the silencer on its location. For lifting by crane follow the document
PDE-EQS-02-DZ-0090.

5. Consider the tightening moment of the screws, refer to the drawing PDE-EQS-02-DZ-0085,
while connection of the flanges.

Final inspection

After completion of the works, a full inspection must be carried out. Any changes in
dimensions have to be recorded on the drawing for as built documentation.

INFORMATION ON START - UP AND USE

1. Before start-up the pipe system has to be cleaned by steam or compressed air.

2. The operating of the silencer is only allowed within the permissible operating
conditions shown on the data sheet.

3. The silencer’s connection to the ground has to be established.

4. The design conditions given on the data sheet have been used for the dimensional
calculation of the pressure parts..

5. The silencer has been designed for a lifetime period of 10 years after the initial
start-up. Depending on the results of the regularly inspections, silencer’s lifetime
can be extended.

MAINTENANCE MANUAL
The silencer has to be inspected regularly. For the tests, the respective laws of the country
in which the silencer is used have to be observed. As a minimum, the following inspections
have to be carried out:

1. Visual inspection of condition and surface of the silencer’s casing, nozzles

flanges and welded joints.

2. Examine the tightness of the flange screws, observe maximum fixing

moments. If necessary, change gaskets.

3. Examine the internal absorption parts. All panels have to be undamaged and
fixed on the supports. Check support welds with regard to corrosion.

4. Check of the silencer’s casing and supports with regard to corrosion. If

necessary carry out further tests (e.g. penetration testing, radiographic
examination).

5. Open the blind flange of the drain nozzle and drain vessel. Check the opening
regarding to dirt or blockages.

Caution:

Silencer inspections may only be carried out when vessel and pipes are pressureless and
there is no danger by leaked out fluid.

Safety information
1. Only authorized personnel should be allowed to have access to the silencer.

2. Silencer inspections should only then be carried out when the silencer are out
of operation and the pipes are pressureless. If screws at flange connections
have to be fastened, pressure should be taken from the pipes before starting
with the work!

3. The safety instructions of the plant have to be observed.

4. The silencer casing can gain high temperatures. The surface temperature has
to be measured before any work is performed!

5. Steam, hot water or dangerous gas may escape from the silencer connections
after opening. Therefore, before opening the pipe, the system has to be
cleaned (if the medium is a dangerous gas) and pressure has to be let off.
