LEAST MASTERED SKILLS
NARRATIVE REPORT
September 7, 2019

I. INTRODUCTION

A seminar is a group meeting led by an expert that focuses on a specific topic or


discipline, such as business, and job searches. Seminars typically take place over the course of a
few days and involve cooperative discussion, multiple speakers and opportunities to share
perspectives and issues related to the topic. Attending a seminar has numerous benefits,
including gaining expert knowledge, and renewing motivation and confidence. Last September 7,
2019 we, the selected Mathematics teachers from Apalit High School attended a division seminar
on Strategies + Technologies Workshop in Teaching the Least Mastered Skills in Teaching
Mathematics held at Teachers’ Training Center, City of San Fernando, Pampanga organized by
Department of Education – Division of Pampanga and CASIO Education Philippines. The
seminar was led by three speakers from CASIO Education Philippines. And they are: Ma’am
Alyssa Dee Villena, Ma’am Kristine Joy Tolera, and Sir Kenneth Verdan.

II. PARTICIPANTS

There were 2 participants in each school from certain cluster. There were 7
clusters in province of Pampanga. In Apalit High School from Cluster VI we, Sir Jonathan G.
Olegario and Ma’am Jocelyn Isip attended the division seminar with Ma’am Donna Marie D.
Tongol as part of the Technical Committee.

III. SEMINAR PROPER

Part I (Morning Session)

We arrived in Teachers’ Training Center before 8:00 o’clock in the morning and
then after few minutes we registered our names first in registration for the attendance and pay
300 pesos as registration fee. The seminar started at exactly 9:00 A.M. with prayer followed by
singing the National Anthem (Lupang Hinirang) and an ice breaker dance. After that we had the
roll call first then, the Master of Ceremony introduced Ma’am Jane P. Valencia (EPS – Math) for
opening program, she gave us a warm greeting and gave motivation and encouragement on the
objectives of division seminar and she also gave her learning about the teaching learning process
using technological tools. One of that was let the participants to join the CASIO Classwiz Photo

Contest with a theme, We Are Classwiz! and get free Casio Calculator Classwiz uploaded in
Facebook before the cut-off time of 3:00 P.M.
The emcee introduced the first speaker from CASIO Education Philippines
Technical Teachers, Ma’am Alyssa Dee Villena. She discussed about Teaching the Least
Mastered Skills in Grade 7 – 9/ General Mathematics with the Use of CASIO Classwiz. She
willingly shared her expertise and knowledge on a certain process in solving using the Classwiz
Emulator can be downloaded free with 90 days trial. She has freebies for the students to
participate in their discussion and question and answer portion. All teachers are interested to the
topic discussed and participating with the speaker and listen enough to learn. And she distributed
a worksheet to the teachers, and she let them to answer it. Lastly, we checked the answers in
worksheet by using calculator. I really enjoyed it.

Part II (Afternoon Session)

We had lunch break for an hour. The afternoon session started with “Digits Relay
Game” and then introducing the second speaker from CASIO Education Philippines Technical
Teachers, Ma’am Kristine Joy Torela. She discussed about Teaching the Least Mastered Skills in
Statistics and Probability with the Use of CASIO Classwiz. She willingly shared her expertise
and knowledge on a certain process in solving using the Classwiz Emulator and she let the
teachers to download also CASIO Edu+ in mobile phone in order to view the graph by scanning
the QR code flash on the screen of the calculator. She distributed 2 sets of worksheets to the
teachers about Statistics: Correlation and Statistics and Probability: Probability Distribution,
Normal Distribution, and Binomial Distribution, respectively, and she let them to answer it. She
also has freebies (pens and notebooks) for the students to participate in their discussion and
question and answer portion. Before we start the last topic, we had first a short snack break.
Lastly, the last speaker from CASIO Education Philippines Technical Teachers, Sir Kenneth
Verdan. He discussed about Teaching the Least Mastered Skills in Basic Calculus with the Use
of CASIO Classwiz. The same procedures as the first two speakers, the speaker discussed and
then let the teacher to answer a worksheet.
There was a sharing of learnings and experiences one representative in each
cluster. For the closing program lead by the sales and marketing manager of CASIO, Sir Joel

Serrano, has prepared a simple presentation about the different calculators of CASIO and let the
teachers to buy. After the session, we had a picture taking with Ma’am Jane P. Valencia, and Sir
Joel Serrano each cluster level. Lastly, he announced the winner of CASIO Classwiz Photo
Contest and that is from one of the teachers in Cluster VI. For addition, he managed to raffle the
remaining notebooks and 5 calculators to the lucky teachers.
