Please, do not get nervous, answer patiently all the questions after having read them carefully.

Your eyes are like round, white balls. Look carefully at one of your friend’s eyes. In the middle of the white ball there
is a circle of colour, which can be brown, green or blue. This is called the iris. In the middle of the iris is a black dot,
which we call the pupil. The pupil lets light into the eye so that we can see. The iris can close the pupil to a tiny dot
when it is very bright to prevent too much light from getting into the eye. When there is very little light, the iris opens
up to make the pupil large so that more light can get in. look at your friend’s eyes inside the classroom and outside in
the sunlight. Can you see how the pupil changes size?
Our eyes are protected by our eyelids and eyelashes. We protect our eyes by closing them if anything comes towards
them, and our eyelashes help us to keep dust out of our eyes. But if dust does get into our eyes, then tears help to wash
it away so that it doesn’t scratch our eyes. Our eyes show us light and colour, tell us the size and shape of objects and
tell us where these objects are. But not everybody’s eyes work perfectly. Inside the eye is a lens, which helps us focus
on what we are looking at. The lens focuses rays of light from the object on the back of the eyes. This is what makes
us see things and gives us sight. If you are short-sighted, then you cannot see things clearly when they are far away.
This is because the lens inside your eye makes light rays focus just before the back of your eye. You need to wear
glasses that put another lens in front of your eye to correct what the lens inside your eye is doing.
Activity 1: answer the following questions about the text. Use your own words as far as possible. 5.0 MARKS
1.Why is the pupil sometimes large and sometimes small? A pupil is sometimes large or small because of the light
that the iris receives. When there is little light the iris opens more for the pupil to be wide and receive more
light, when there is a lot of light the iris does not open much to prevent the pupil from receiving too much light.
2.Why do you think we need to protect our eyes? Give two reasons for your answer. Because the eyes are your
body's most highly developed sensory organs and the eyes give us the the power of vision.
3.How do tears protect our eyes? Tears protect the eyes washing it away the dust, that it doesn’t scratch our eyes.

I don’t think so and it is sad. We are still very much in the early stages of this global pandemic. Most of Africa is
less well connected than Europe or North America, but the virus will, in all likelihood, eventually take hold. We
don’t have the proper information and material to face this challenge, the test are limited so we can tell exactly
how many people are infected in our country. There is the Economy and the plans of the government, we aren’t
developed enough to stay home and wait for better days, if we thay home we can die from starvation, if we go out
there is many risks.

God bless you
