I. Learning Objectives:
At any part of the lesson, the students are expected to:
1. Explain how a poem is influenced by culture and other factors.
2. Use literary devices and techniques to craft poetic forms.
3. Use the appropriate and effective speech conventions expected of
speech choir presentations.

Value Concept: Value ourselves and get the most out of life.

III. Learning Task

Priming

“CONNECT!”
Students will give a word that they can associate with poems.
Then, when somebody in the class agree, he/she will stand up, raise his/her
hand, and will say,” connect! The process will continue up until everyone
agrees with the idea associated with poem.

Activity

“AN ADVICE PEOM”


Students will write a poem that offers advice to a friend, relative,
classmate, schoolmate or someone else. They will work in groups and write a
two stanza poem using the following words and phrases.

- Remember - Forgot
- Do - Do not
- Seek - Watch out for
Analysis

“ADVICE COLUMN”

Students will list down as many different sources of information


that they can think of. How can these sources of information persuade people
to do or not to do something in other to celebrate self-worth?

Abstraction

“LOOK UP THE HERO!”

Students will choose their most remembered poet/persona in


their favourite poem and use him/her as their role model in life.

They will tell about his/her outstanding trait or attitude that is


worthy to follow or praise. Remember the lines conveying such trait or attitude
and use them as possible words of wisdom. Then, students will share their
thoughts in the class.

Application

“MUSICAL BEAT!”

Students will choose a song and they will match it in their


favourite poem. They will express their idea on how to celebrate self-worth by
changing the lyrics of the song. They can use rhymes, repetition, imagery,
figurative language, and or rhythm.

IV. Evaluation

“SPEECH CHOIR PRESENTATION”

Students will have a speech choir presentation of the Seven


Ages of Man. They will be graded based on the following criteria: Delivery,
Voice, Facial expression, Eye contact, Gestures, Choreography, costumes,
props, background music and sounds.

V. Assignment

Students will practice and memorize their speech choir


presentation.
