IV Procedures
A. Introduction Let’s play Quizziz…
I will give you 30 seconds to answer each question via
online.
Find the LCM of the following expressions:

1. 3_ , __4_
X x-1

B. Development Illustrative Examples:

Example 1: Solve the rational algebraic equation

The given rational algebraic equation can be

transformed into a quadratic equation. To solve the
equation, the following procedure can be followed: a.
Multiply both sides of the equation by the least
common multiple (LCM) of all denominators. In the
given equation, the LCM is 4x.

Check whether the obtained values of x make the

equation

If the obtained values of x make the

equation then the

solutions of the equation are: x = 3 or x = 8.

Example 2: Solve the rational algebraic equation

Solution: The LCD is x – 2.

Multiply both members by the LCD.
(x-2) ( x- 3x ) = ( 6 −_6 )(x-2)
x-2 x-2
x2 – 2x – 3x = 6x – 12 – 6
x2 – 2x – 3x – 6x = -12 – 6
x2 – 11x + 18 = 0
(x – 2)(x – 9) = 0

x=2;x=9

Check: if x = 2

Answer the following questions.

How do we find the LCM of rational expressions?

How do we express different rational expressions
into their equivalent expressions?
What properties are applied in transforming
rational algebraic expressions to quadratic
equations in standard form?
How do we find solutions of quadratic equations?

Guided Practice:
Math Builders 9…pp. 47-48

Skill Booster: 1.2F …pp 48-49

C. Engagement Solve this equation

a. Multiply both sides of equation by
2x(x+3) to get the quadratic
equation

b. Solve for x using any method.

D. Independent Practice
Solve:

What is the agricultural product that is

usually known as source of income of
Rizaleño?

Solve the following equations. Copy the letter

corresponding to each equation and write it
above the corresponding answer in the boxes
below that contain the answer code.

The learners may answer the following exercises

using Deped modules in LRMs portal
DepEdRizal local storage sites google .com
Deped Commons module.

E. Assimilation There are equations that are
transformable to quadratic equations. These
equations may be given in different forms.
Hence, the procedures in transforming these
equations to quadratic equations may also be
different. Once the equations are transformed
to quadratic equations, then they can be
solved using the different methods of solving
quadratic equations, such as extracting
square roots, factoring, completing the square
and using the quadratic formula. An
extraneous root of an equation can be derived
from an original equation. However, it is not a
solution of the original equation.
