1. Application
This procedure is applicable to all operations.

2. Objective
To verify, by testing, that injection valves are operating correctly and within the leak rates specified in
the COP for Well Integrity

3. Summary

3.1 Injection valves are installed in water injection wells where a leak greater than the allowable SSSV
leak rate has developed below the SSSV between the tubing and `A' annulus.

3.2 Injection valve installation is an interim measure allowing continued injection whilst a workover is
planned.

3.3 There is a requirement to test the injection valve's integrity at monthly intervals to confirm that safety is
not compromised or allowed to deteriorate.

3.4 This procedure details how the valve is tested and contains information on acceptance criteria.

3.5 Injection valves are expected to operate within specified limits of leak rate. Testing is carried out by
bleeding off the pressure in the tubing above the injection valve and allowing it to close.

3.6 The flow rate or pressure build across the closed valve is measured and the result compared against
the standard for the test.

3.7 If an injection valve fails to test, inject approximately 2 tubing volumes of water into the well and repeat
the test. If it still fails, the injection valve must be changed at the earliest opportunity.

4. Procedure

4.1 Pre-Conditions

4.1.1 Ensure that there are no Work Permits in place which may prohibit the execution of this procedure.

4.1.2 Do not inhibit gas heads in the vicinity of the wellhead. Monitoring of the atmosphere for hydrocarbons
and H 2 S must be continuous throughout the operation.

NOTE: This is particularly important whilst bleeding down pressure trapped in the swab and kill wing valve
cavities on water wells and when bleeding down to open drains.

4.1.3 The preferred method of monitoring and trending well pressures is the PI system which allows suitable
pressure ranges to be selected.

4.1.4 Ensure that the system is in current calibration prior to commencing testing.

4.2 Testing Procedure

4.2.1 If the well has been closed in for any length of time, it may be necessary to inject approximately 2
tubing volumes to ensure that the tubing contents are clean and that no debris has settled on the injection
valve.

4.2.2 Close in the well and isolate the well from the production manifold by closing the Flow Wing Valve
(FWV).

NOTE: The injection manifold should also be isolated and the flowline de-pressurized via the drain valve to
ensure that the flowline does not charge the tree cavity through the closed FWV causing spurious pressure
readings.

4.2.3 Rig up to allow the water to be drained to a suitable drain via the kill wing valve and ensure that a
means of measuring the volume of returned fluids is included in the rig up.

4.2.4 Provision must be made for bleeding off water wells capable of producing hydrocarbons.

4.2.5 Bleed off the well pressure at a controlled rate.

NOTE: If the `A' annulus is pressurized it shall be bled off at a similar rate to the tubing in order to avoid
collapse. This is particularly important where tubing corrosion has occurred or is suspected.

4.2.6 Allow the well pressure to stabilise at zero when the well stops bleeding off.

NOTE: If the injection valve is being tested to provide a well isolation barrier, the acceptance criteria is for the
leak rate across it to be zero.

4.2.7 Record the flow rate or pressure build up over a 30 minute period. Measure flow rates via the KWV
with zero pressure at the wellhead.

NOTE: Pressure build up is an indicator of the volume passing the injection valve and may be easier to
measure. However, measuring the pressure build up is only acceptable when the exact volume above the
injection valve is known. Flow rate must be used to measure the performance of injection valves in wells which
cannot build up pressure in excess of 20 Bar CITHP.

4.2.8 If the injection valve leaks at an unacceptable rate, inject 2 tubing volumes into the well in an attempt
to clean the production tubing and the valve.

4.2.9 Repeat the test. If a significant improvement in the test results is observed after injection, the valve
washing may be repeated for a further 3 test attempts.

4.2.10 Report the test results as per the integrity form attached to the work order.

4.3 Reporting Procedure

4.3.1 The well integrity data will be inputted (on a priority basis) by the Maximo operator.

4.3.2 The Well Integrity Engineer will validate the test data upon receipt.

4.3.3 If the test is unacceptable, a remedial Maximo PM work order shall be raised. Continued production
scheduling of remedial actions shall be dictated by the requirements of the C of P for Well Integrity

4.3.4 A signed hard copy of the work order and matrix is required to be retained for 2 years.
