Comparing Rachel upon his wedding nite
and Leah shows why
we need the mind of
Christ to guide us in
making good choices
while upon this earth.
Many things upon
this earth can lead us
away from good
choices. Eve looked upon the forbidden fruit
under the influence of the devil, seeing it was:
good for food, pleasant to the eyes, and
desirable to make one wise. But had she
looked with the mind of God, she would know
God wanted them to be; obedient, innocent,
and without suffering. For Adam was
instructed to not partake in the “knowledge of
good and evil” for such would bring suffering.
The inclinations of our natural mind can bring
less than perfect decisions. Jacob was
righteous & followed his mothers instructions.
Rachel looked like a good choice, but was not
the perfect choice. For God choose Rachael’s
sister, Leah, as mother of Judah and Levi.

Interesting also is to look at family interactions
as related in stories of the Patriarchs. Often
overlooked in Jacob’s story is that Jacob was
40Y old when Esau (his twin) began to marry
the Hittite women that grieved minds of Isaac
and Rebecca. This means that Jacob had to

Benjamin, directly to Rachel. So it seems God
exonerated Leah and try as we may, Rachel’s
sins of envy and idolatry cannot be
overlooked.
For even though Rachel is forever tied to the
birth of our Savior, by prophesy of Jeremiah,
her bloodline is not. Her 1st son Joseph was
the chosen vessel to save alive the linage of
Jesus & left valuable life lessons. The house of
Benjamin was sowed with many tragic events,
starting with Rachel’s death in birth. Next, she
& patriarchs in Hebron, but rather on the road
to Bethlehem and Hebron. Rachel’s bloodline
was exonerated by the Apostle Paul. For it was
Saul of Taurus (Acts9:11) of the tribe of
Benjamin, who elicited the doctrines of the
new and better covenant.
The sons of Rachel can be translated as:
Jehovah has added the son of my sorrow but
to Jacob called Jehovah has added the son of
my right hand. Which can be seen as Rachel’s
tragedy became Jacob most prized child.
Maybe some of Rachel’s ill fate could have
been avoided had she not been an idolator.
For in the family departure from Padan Aram
(PA) unto Canaan we find that Rachel
absconded with her father’s idols. When asked,
she lied to her father about the matter. It was not
until Jacob fled Shechem to Bethel that the
children of Israel put away their idols:
were in their hands, and the earrings which were
in their ears; and Jacob hid them under the
terebinth tree which was by Shechem

The putting away these idols was about 7-10 years
after departing PA, based on age difference
between Joseph & Benjamin. Only after putting
away the idols did God visit Jacob the second
time at Beth–el. Idolatry stops the grace of God.
Several times we are warned to flee idolatry. Let us
always remain vigilant in this area.
