The Warmaster Cup

A Warhammer 40k Ranking System

The Warmaster Cup Mission Statement: It is the purpose of the Warmaster Cup to
determine the best Warhammer 40,000 players participating in the Cup; by setting up a
scoring system based upon players’ performances in 40k tournaments held throughout the
calendar year. The Warmaster Cup will endeavor to encourage positive and fun
competition amongst the participants while maintaining the highest degree of
transparency and legitimacy possible.

The Warmaster Cup Organization:


Chair: The Chair is responsible for approving any tournaments/clubs/events outside of
Game Empire Pasadena that wish to participate in the Warmaster Cup.
Tournament Organizer: Is responsible for organizing the Warmaster Invitational
including aiding in the certification of independent Tournaments, and maintaining the
standings with the Web Master.
Web Master: Is responsible for maintaining the Warmaster Cup standings and
disseminating information about standings, events, and all other official news to the
appropriate parties.

Game Empire Pasadena will host the Warmaster Invitational in December of 2011, all
Tournaments held at Game Empire Pasadena are automatic qualifying tournaments for
the Warmaster Cup. Capture and Control is the party responsible for organizing and
running the Warmaster Cup, Capture and Control’s website will serve as the primary
source for standings and Cup information.

Earning points:
Points are earned by playing in Warhammer 40,000 tournaments. Points are also earned
for winning Best Overall, Best General, Best Sportsman, Best Army in qualifying
tournaments. The size of the tournaments will determine the number of points you earn.

All players will receive a base number of points for participating in a Warmaster Cup qualifying tournament.
Earning a prize at one of these events will award you extra points, which will be added to the points earned
for participation.

Winning the Warmaster Cup:

The Warmaster Cup is a yearlong event beginning on January 1st of each year and
running until December 1st. All 40k tournaments at Game Empire Pasadena, and any
other participating stores, during that time period that meet the qualifications will be
counted toward the Cup. At the end of the Cup’s season the top 16 players will be
invited to play for the Warmaster Cup on the Second Saturday in December of the same
calendar year. In other words the top 16 players from the 2011 Warmaster Cup will be
invited to play in a tournament on the Second Saturday in December 2011.

The Warmaster Cup Invitational tournament will use a “swiss” style system of 4 rounds
played at the 1750 point level, No “soft scores” will be used in the overall scores, but a
painting award will be given. The winner of the Warmaster Invitational is the winner of
the Cup for that year. The Warmaster Invitational will be held at Game Empire
Pasadena, GW FAQs will be in effect on the day of the tournament and all rulings by the
Tournament Organizer are final. While sportsmanship is not part of the scoring system
anyone whose conduct is less than exemplary may find himself or herself ejected from
the Warmaster Invitational. Any person who is asked to leave the Invitational due to
egregious un-sportsmanlike conduct or cheating may be subject to expulsion from the
Cup for a number of years.

The Warmaster Cup Web Master and Tournament Organizer will tally all the points from
qualifying tournaments. Tournament Organizers from other stores who wish to have
their tournaments count toward the cup are responsible for contacting the Warmaster Cup
Chair and Tournament organizer to certify their event. Tournament Organizers of
independent certified events are responsible for reporting the results of an event to the
Web Master within two days of the event being held. Failure by the T.O. to report the
results of the tournament will result in that tournament being invalid for inclusion into the
Warmaster Cup.

Certified Events:
In order for a Store, Club, or Group to have their tournament count towards the
Warmaster Cup the Chair of the Warmaster Cup must certify them. In order to become a
certified Store/Club/Group/Tournament certain requirements must be met.
1. The Tournament Organizer must be willing to report the event results to the
Warmaster Cup Chairman within 2 days of the event finishing.
2. Tournaments must have at least 10 participants; failure to have 10 participants
will result in that tournament being invalid.
3. The Tournament must be played at a minimal point level of 1500 and not exceed
2500 points.
4. You must register your tournament at least 3 months in advance of it being held.
5. Stores, Groups, and Clubs who have an ongoing series of tournaments may
register their on going series all at once.
