Q#2. A power station has used a 60-Hz single-circuit transmission line having length of 386km (240
mi). The conductors are hooked over flat horizontal spacing of 6.25 m (23.8 ft) between conductors,
the load on the line is 140 MW at 215 kV with 100% power factor. Analyse the circuit to find the
voltage, current, and power at the sending end and the voltage regulation of the line. Also, determine
the wavelength and velocity of propagation of the line.

Q#3. Design a circuit of a single-phase transmission line that is constituted over three solid wires of
radius of 0.35-cm. The return circuit is composed of two wires of 0.5-cm. The arrangement of
conductors is shown in Fig. 1 below. Please determine the inductance because of the current across
each side of the line and the overall inductance across the complete line.

Q#4. The Fig. 3 describes the line flow diagram. You are required to investigate the circuit to
calculate the current flowing in the equivalent circuit of the line from bus 1 to bus 2 in the 250-kV
system of Fig. 2. The calculated current and the line parameters are provided to you in Table 1.
Calculate the line power losses by using value of I 2R and describe the comparison of this value with
the difference between the power in the line from bus 1 and the power out at bus 2. Similarly, find
power losses by impedance X in the line and describe the comparison of these values which are
obtained from the Fig. 3.

Q#5. The need for a better environment and clean energy is escalating day by day. Consider the
circuit for installation of a 10kW net-metering solar system. Find its parameters and suggest
components for installing the most optimized system.

Q#6. Investigate a system by Using the Newton-Raphson method and solve for xl and x2 of the
nonlinear equations
g x1 , x2 , u h1 x1 , x2 , x3 b1 6ux2 sin x1 0.6 0
g x1 , x2 , u h2 x1 , x2 , x3 b2 6 x22 sin x1 6ux2 cos x1 0.5 0
Assume that u is a fixed number of 1.05, and choose the initial conditions
x1(0) 0 rad . and x2(0) 1.05 rad . .
