Baliga products are manufactured with the same traditional care and strict control at each stage of manufacture that
have been the Company’s hall mark for more than five decades. However, in order that the user can experience a
trouble free service life, please ensure that the below mentioned points are looked into before installation.

1. Voltage (V) : Every Ex equipment is tested and certified for specific voltage as per the Ex test certificate
and has to be referred to. The tolerances in the supply voltage should be within +/- 10% of the rated
product voltage. Refer product datasheet for details.

2. Current (Amps): Every Ex equipment is tested and certified for specific current as per the Ex test
certificate and has to be referred to and should not be exceeded by tolerences +/- 3% of the rated product
current which could lead to over heating and exceed the ‘T’ rating. Refer product datasheet for details.

3. Earthing: All Ex products used in hazardous areas have to be earthed positively and firmly. For the size
of the earth or bonding conductors refer Clause 15.3 of IS/IEC 60079-0.

4. Ambient Temperature: All products are tested and certified for use in ambient temperature of -20º C to +
40 º C unless otherwise specified in the test certificate which may be referred.

5. Electrical / Neutral Disconnect: The Ex electrical system should be designed so that while isolating the
supply, all live conductors including the neutral must be isolated as specified in IS/IEC 60079-0 (Clause
18.2) / IEC 60079-14 (Clause 8.3) / IS/IEC 60079-17 (Clause 4.8)

6. Ex LED Luminaire: As electronic drivers are being used and as LEDs are very sensitive to surges, a 4kV
built in surge suppressor is being incorporated in each driver. However it is advisable to use a 10kV surge
suppressor device in each phase for better protection. For sites with high lightning surges a 20kV SPD can
be installed in the LDB. Use SPD Type 3 to control surges of 1.2/50 u Sec or 8/20 u Sec.

7. Use of LDBs : To protect the lighting circuits, always use a separate LDB not connected to power loads,
through a Delta star transformer with constant voltage output of 230V +/- 5%.

8. The Ex equipment shall be commissioned after conducting pre-commissioning checks as specified in

IS/IEC 60079-17.

9. The Ex equipment shall not be altered, repaired or tampered with in any manner by way of drilling
additional holes, entries, use of non-standard internals or cover bolts other than that specifically approved
or supplied by Baliga.

10. The Ex equipment shall be properly installed and erected by persons experienced in installation of Ex
equipment and in line with IS 16724 / IEC 60079-14.
