INTRODUCTION

The infinitive is the verbal form that refers to the action or state without referring to the time in
which it happens, that is, it only expresses the action itself. It can act as a noun, adjective, adverb,
direct object or indirect object in the sentence, in addition to the verbal function. Equivalent in
Spanish to verbs ending in –ar, -er or –ir.
Gerunds are formed by adding "-ing" to the verb: "sleeping", "drawing", "swimming". But they do
not correspond to the verbal forms of "-ing" that you see in the present or continuous past tense.
They look the same, but gerunds are actually verb forms that are used as nouns.
1. ACTIVITY 9 - GERUNDS AND INFINITIVES

well ... I will start talking about my family, it is made up of 6 people, my two children, my mother, my
husband and my aunt, my mother was upset, she mentioned having seen my son in a street soccer game,
without permission, his friends managed not to have permission, he admitted that he had made a
mistake.

We started studying at eight, it is not easy to graduate from university, the requirement is ever higher,
it is necessary to speak English to find good jobs. The course was detailed enough to widen his
knowledge base, this rule is useful enough to understand the usage of infinitives.

It is incredible to have close friends, I have some who are like brothers, I know their secrets, they do
not want to know mine, I advise to continue with care, not to trust anyone, some show you honey and
later give you sugar.

Yesterday I decided to draw, draw my dreams, those that have cost me so much effort, I agreed to go
for them no matter the cost. I hope to know my result tomorrow, see that everything was worth it and
that there is nothing to stop me.

2. CONCLUSION

Gerunds and infinitives in English are very common. They can be used in many situations. Sometimes
you can use both an infinitive and a gerund. Sometimes you have to choose one of the two, because
using the other can be totally wrong.
