COVID OPINION

Según Andrew & Barry (1), It is worrying and sad to see how the media and other people
who are not well informed are creating panic in the population. People are inviting everyone
to buy excessively, but what about other people who are barely raising money to buy some
things? Those who cannot go out to work and do not have the resources are more affected.

There are so many "possible cases" that the municipality and the government have detected
and do not share these data with the general population, that scares me. In a moment that
should be supportive and honest we see actions that are dehumanizing us, I don't know what
our country is going to stop and that is what scares me the most. Staying at home affects me
in terms of studies, I am at the Centro Universitario de SurOccidente (CUNSUROC) in
Suchitepéquez,

I am studying political and social sciences and so far this semester we have only completed 1
part of 5 that we should have finished this month. We had to cancel educational tours, jobs,
study weeks and now I don't know if I will be able to pass the semester. I think that now we
can take the extra time to exercise at home, read and educate ourselves in a self-taught way,
live with the family, share with our pets, laugh, listen to music and keep an eye on everything
that is happening in the country.

In our current time of social distancing and necessary medical triage, millions of Americans
are without medical treatment, both preventive and elective. Those with pre-existing and
undiagnosed chronic diseases across the country will not receive care, and some will die, from
lack of care and treatment due to covid-19. Many of them will never have been infected or
show no symptoms of the virus, but their neglected diseases must be taken into account when
taking stock of their devastating burden on our society.
