Concept A text/ paragraph is a collection of sentences which all relate to
one main idea or topic. Effective paragraphs have four main
characteristics; Two of the properties are Mechanics and
Cohesion - Coherence.

 Engage (5 minutes) PRETEST
I. Identify the following by writing it on the space before the
item number. Choose your answer from the pool of words
below.

abbreviate, punctuate, and capitalize.

logical manner, making them easily understood by the reader.

 Explore The teacher divides the class into 3 groups. Each group will be given an
(15 minutes) article for them to analyze in accordance to its organization, coherence,
and cohesion.

Consider the following examples below. Compare and contrast.

learning, they are never satisfied.

learning. They are never satisfied.

Group 2

My favorite color is blue. I like it because it is calming and it relaxes me.


I often go outside in the summer and lie on the grass and look into the clear
sky when I am stressed. For this reason, I'd have to say my favorite color
is blue.

Group 3
My favorite color is blue. Blue sports cars go very fast.
Driving in this way is dangerous and can cause many car
crashes. I had a car accident once and broke my leg. I was
very sad because I had to miss a holiday in Europe because
of the injury.

 Elaborate (10 minutes)


The teacher will conduct a slide show presentation on
properties of well-written text for elaboration the topic.

 Evaluate Post Test will be administered


(8 minutes) (The same questions from the Pretest will be given as their
Posttest)
 They will be given 3 minutes to answer the Test.
 Checking will be done after 3 minutes.
