LEARNING OBJECTIVE By the end of this lesson, pupils will be able to:
1. Write simple descriptions of friend’s housework by interviewing
2. Read simple text to understand the use of ‘have to’ in a sentence.
ACTIVITIES PRE-LESSON 1. Spelling bee name of housework learnt
LESSON DELIVERY 2. Pupils create a table for them to use in an interview.
3. Pupils use the questions, “What do you have to do on..Monday?”
4. Then pupils have to complete the table using the information
they gained.
5. Pupils write simple descriptions about their friend’s housework
in a simple paragraph using ‘On Monday, she has to…”
6. Pupils share their writing to friends.
POST LESSON 7. Pupils do the ‘mix and match’ activity. Pupils walk around and
circle name of similar housework.

1. Listen for specific information by matching pictures
2. Listen and understand text by answering comprehension questions
ACTIVITIES PRE-LESSON 1. Show pictures about Ancient Egypt to introduce the topic and
elicit what pupils may know.
LESSON DELIVERY 2. Show the pictures again and tell pupils that they are about the
past. Put the pictures on the board.
3. Read or play the text that you have prepared and get pupils to
guess which pictures are mentioned in the text.
4. Introduce the vocabulary at the top of the page and ask pupils to
work in pairs to complete the quiz.
5. Discuss the answers with pupils. You can check the answers at
the end of the Student’s Book (page 118).
POST LESSON 6. Review learning by asking pupils to tell each other what they
learned from the quiz. Focus on what pupils remember, rather than
on accurate use of language.
