Reward
One fine sunny Sunday, an eighteen-year-old girl with blue eyes and has a seventeen-
centimeter curly hair named Lia decided to go for a relaxing day to unwind and have fun. She want to
have a free time as a reward to herself for finishing all of her exams for the past two weeks in which she
got all A’s, meaning she did an excellent job. Actually, she has a very high IQ which is around 140-145,
yes, she’s quite a genius. She has always been a top student ever since she started schooling. As her day
starts, she decided to wear a very cute tee shirt she bought in the size extra small. Unfortunately, she
found herself squeezing into it, and there she realized that she actually gained one kilogram because of
stress eating in the past two weeks. She was really upset, but as the resilient girl she is, Lia decided to
just wear a hoody, a black one actually, even if the weather is about 39 degrees. Lia is indeed a risk
taker. After that, she put on her make-up, then she wore a sneaker which is a half inch smaller than her
actual shoe size. It was really hard for her to fit into it but she didn’t mind enduring the pain because she
thinks it’s the look that matters the most. After all that delays, she is now finally ready and all set… or
maybe not?

Meanwhile, when she was about to book an uber, her friend Ali, called her with a very high-
toned voice screaming “Lia!!!! You have to go check your email now! Harvard University just sent me an
email and they’re going to do an on the spot interview in a few minutes, oh my gosh, it’s actually
happening in less than ten minutes, I’m going to prepare!!! Bye!”..

Lia was so shocked that she didn’t even had the chance to talk.

She rushed to get her laptop, checked her email, and by there she prepared for her most
awaited interview. Lia’s dream school ever since she was in junior high is Harvard. She has always put
Harvard as the best university in the world because Lia believes that Harvard University is a very
dedicated school which truly shows considering their A-rated high intellectual students. Lia was very
happy that the university offered her an interview. By that, Lia realized that she didn’t really need a
relaxing day to reward herself because that email, that interview, that one step closer to her dream was
her realest reward.

Moral:

There are times that when we expect too much in life and find ourselves trapped in unexpected or
sometimes, unwanted circumstances, we tend to easily give up and just walk away from it. But walking
away would only make it worse. Rather than going away or hiding from it, we must have the courage to
face it, to keep our heads up and to keep moving forward no matter what. There’s always a reason to
everything that happens. And as the old saying goes, it’s just a bad day, not a bad life.
