NUS ENTREPRENEURSHIP SOCIETY

Founded in 1992, NES is the Premier Tertiary Entrepreneurship

Organisation in Singapore

NES promotes entrepreneurship at the National University of Singapore to

empower the next generation of entrepreneurs. The society is a hub for
entrepreneurship with an abundance of learning and networking
opportunities. We organise large conferences, hackathons to bring our
members closer to the business community. We aim to foster the spirit of
entrepreneurship with our growing network of alumni through the sharing
of expertise and knowledge. NES has produced an illustrious list of alumni
entrepreneurs and changemakers in various industries.
OUR MISSION
We spend a lot of time thinking how we can empower
young tertiary entrepreneurs in Singapore. We realised
that we can show a system, distilling the generalizable
parts of start-up advice from experts all across
Singapore into a single playbook, in an easy-to-read
yet informative medium. Our aim of the playbook is to
empower young entrepreneurs still in their tertiary
education all over Singapore. The playbook will
introduce newcomers to the world of startups
— the goal is to impart content for an aspiring
Singaporean student entrepreneur
THE PLAYBOOK
To have a successful start-up, you need: a great idea , a great
market, a great team, a great product, a great execution, and most
importantly, a great mentality to think not just out of the box but
out of the SHOE too (Self-limiting belief, Habit, Old-thinking, and
Excuses).

Starting a startup can be intimidating especially so for young

budding entrepreneurs who have the passion but lack the skills and
experience. The playbook is meant to guide the budding
entrepreneur through their start-up journey. From providing advice
on how to deal with failure, to providing resources such as funding
opportunities and service credits for budding entrepreneurs - the
playbook aims to create the preeminent resource for newcomers
to Singapore’s startup scene.
