1. How effectively do you think Rachel spent her day?

 Project manager position is one of the toughest job which need Time management skills,
communication skills, effective thinking, decision taking capability, leadership qualities so
that the manager can lead the team, To effectively achieve the project with in given time
period. Rachel was very effective as a project manager there were many factors which show
that she spent her day effectively.
 Rachel was effectively able to schedule her daily routine and to do list which is an important
task in project manager’s routine. Most of the time she was engaged in socializing with other
managers, team members, colleagues which is major part of project manager’s job.
 Initially Rachel had her plans for the day but as the day goes on Rachel need to adapt herself
according to the situations and need to update her schedule frequently, she managed it
effectively.
 Rachel spent her time to resolve the issues raised due to improper communication with the
clients and was able to effectively communicate with the clients to resolve the issues.
 Project managers often need to take quick and efficient decisions to resolve the issues and
Rachel succeeded in that by making express delivery for the equipment to which are to be
delivered at the site.
 There are several times when Rachel was made to change her schedule (for example when
two of the tea members were late for the meeting by 15 minutes) she adjusted the schedule
for the meeting.
 Over all Rachel was able to complete her tasks and she also made a schedule for the next
day. Throughout the day she was busy in attending meetings, socializing with colleagues,
making presentations, replying back to clients, updating the report to the boss. So, overall
Rachel has a busy day and I think she has effectively spend her day as project manager.
2. What does the case tell you about what it is like to be a project manager?

 Being a project manager one has to deal with complex situations daily and need to overcome
these situation through a professional approach which include decision taking, team building,
socializing, and communicating effectively.
 Communication with others is an integral part of project manager where he/she needs to
maintain good relation with the team members, colleagues and also the head of the
organization.
 The project manager act as the bridge between the clients and the project team/organization
where he needs to communicate effectively to know the needs of the customers and the
production capacity of the industry.
 Project managers entire day goes in team meetings, socializing with colleagues, taking the
timely report from the team members and if any problems arise solving them with quick
decisions.
 The project manager has to answer the boss/clients whenever there arises problem in the
production of the desired output than that of desired by the customers. The project managers
continuously feed positive spirit between the team members to get the desired output
efficiently.
 The case gives an overview of how a project manager needs to deal with the situations that
will arise each day, and the duties which are to be performed by him to gain the efficient
results which leads to successful completion of the project.
