Featuring a compact and stand-alone design, AREC KS-2 Media Station consists of diverse features and functionality,
including dual-signals capturing, recording synchronously, codec, streaming online, live broadcasting, and web-based
monitor page, providing complete lecture capture solution.

3.2 Product First installation


Initial installation
Connet PC to setting LAN port, and input 192.168.11.254 in the browser page.
Step 1:Log in System Administration with default user ID admin and password admin.

Step 2:Set up time of host machine by selecting settings in time tab in System Information.

Step 3:Plug USB drive to backside USB port and set up local storge. Click to format your hard disk after first
installation.
Please check both Enable local storage and Cycling Record checkbox. Click Apply to exit the page after
setup.

Step 4 : Click Logout to exit setting page.

Step 5 : Plug DV or PC tp Video input port,you may see the image on connected display.

Recommendations for your hard disk:


1. Please install hard disk of capacity greater than 64G
if you want to record full HD images as the host
system can record videos up to 8 hours in one shot.
2. A poor quality hard disk may lead to host reading
failure. Please make sure the following message
prompts when a hard disk is inserted.

Chapter 4 User Menu


This chapter will introduce the product’s main menu and sub-menu paths, and describe how to use simple
instructions to operate this product’s playback and recording functions, and to enter Settings to configure this
product, satisfying your smart recording/playback needs.

Display Screen Function Description

The KS-2 will enter the display


screen upon boot up. The first time
it is turned ON the screen will be
divided into four by default. If the
manager has not yet installed and
set the source for channels 1~4, you
will see a black screen.

Chapter 5 Basic Operations


This chapter covers instructions on Host Tutorial, Recording Tutorial and Playback Tutorial.

5.1 Host Tutorial


KS-2 enters the Host Tutorial mode upon boot up; users must first confirm that the correct signal source is set
and the storage device is installed. KS-2 simultaneously allows 2-channel high definition channel input, and
is able to save and output to use as digital teaching resources. Audio may also be used, allowing the lecturer’s
teaching to have both video and audio.

5.1.1 Layout Settings


The default Layout upon boot up is 2-way split; users can select a layout according to the teaching environment
at any time.
There are two ways to switch the Layout:
Remote control operation: Press the button to enter the menu as shown below, and then use the
buttons to select the format.

5.1.2 Display Resolution Settings


The Display Screen allows resolution adjustment so that the video output resolution can be set or automatically
detected for best suiting your display device (mobile phone, tablet PC, notebook PC, personal computer, TV,
projector or electronic whiteboard).

Main menu operation: Press the button to enter Main Menu, select Output Resolution under the Settings
sub-menu, and then use the buttons to set the resolution.

The host automatically detects the optimal resolution for the

5.1.3 Video Quality Settings Adjustment


Video adjustment allows setting of brightness, contrast, saturation and hue, allowing the color of the output
screen to be saturated with brighter contrast, achieving the optimum video image.

1. Use buttons to enter the Main Menu, then select Video Adjustment under the Settings sub-menu, and then
use buttons to select and adjust.

2. To restore the default value, use the buttons on the remote control and select Default Value; a prompt
will show up then select OK, and the default values will be restored.

Icon Name Description

Brightness The higher the brightness level, the brighter the monitor display.

Monitor contrast adjustment; the higher the contrast, the darker the

dark places and the brighter the bright places.

Refers to the pureness of the color; the higher the saturation the purer
Saturation
the color, and the lower the saturation, the color will gradually turn gray.

The lower the hue, the bluer the screen, and the higher the hue, the

greener the screen.

Default Default Value Restores the default value settings.

5.1.4 Volume
HDMI, Line in / Mic, AREC wireless microphone, Output Volume
adjustment:

Use buttons to enter the Main Menu, the select Volume under
the Settings sub-menu, and then use buttons
to select and adjust.

5.1.5 Return and Exit


If you want to return to the previous level and cancel the menu and return to the main screen, the following
instructions can be used.
The button on the remote control can be used under the Main Menu / Sub-Menu / Dialog box to return to the
previous level.

5.2 Recording Tutorial


The recording function allows you to record your lecture situation including lecture content, lecture presentation
and video playback etc. Enable Recording describes how to start recording, access and export lecture
information, and how to deleted recorded lectures.

5.2.1 Start recording


Start recording your courses and activities.

1. Remote controller operation: Press to enter the main menu and to select the recording
function. The submenu Start recording displays. Press or to start recording from the
recording preview page.

2. The following information is shown in the recording preview page:


(1) Recording format
(2) Output resolution
(3) Storage disk: Location of file storage
(4) Available space: Free space left in your hard disk
(5) Remaining Time for recording
(6) Streaming: ON / OFF
(7) Record Mode: mixed / original

5.2.2 Recording operation


How to pause and stop to record.
Remote controller operation: Press to pause and to stop recording.

5.2.3 Export Lecture


Course recording may be exported to removable storage devices for viewing after courses. You may export course
recording to removable storage device in format of MP4. Please insert your USB drives at USB port at front panel of
your host before starting exporting recording file.
Remote Controller operation: Select Course export option from main menu Export Lecture. Select
desired course, press , the Unselect all/Export/Select operation menu displays. Export file format,
press OK, Press to start course export.

5.2.4 Delete Lecture


Lecture delete allows your hard drive to have more space to record new lectures.
Remote control operation: Enter the Recording Function from the main menu, and use the buttons
to select Delete Lecture from the sub-menu. Select the lecture to delete, and press the button; a prompt will
appear, press OK to delete the lecture. Press Cancel to cancel deleting the lecture.

5.3 Playback Tutorial


The playback function will list all the recorded lectures or activities and categorize them into pictures and videos.
This chapter will give instructions on the various playback functions.

5.3.1 Local Storage


Local lectures allows users to view lectures recorded and stored on the local hard drive, access the highest
quality lecture videos.

1. Remote control operation: Press the button to enter the main menu, and then use the
buttons to select the Playback Function. Use the buttons to enter Local Storage in the
sub-menu and select the lecture you want to playback.
2. During playback, the following buttons can be used at any time to control the video playback by performing
pause, play, stop, channel selection and adjusting the output volume size.
Remote control operation: Press the button to pause the video screen; press the button to continue
playback. Press the button to end the video.
3. Use the button on the remote control to return to the previous level.

4. Volume: Press the button to adjust the volume; the button mutes the channel output.

5. Press the button to display lecture information, and then press the button again to display knowledge
points. Use the buttons to select it.
*Please refer to 6.3.5 and 6.3.6 for detailed instructions.

5.3.2 Playback Operations


1. Front panel operation: Press the button to pause the video screen; press the button again to
continue playback. Press the button to end the video.
2. During playback the buttons on the remote control can be used to select channels.
3. Use the button on the remote control or the button on the panel to return to the previous level; press
the button on the remote control to exit playback mode.
4. Volume: Press the button to adjust the volume; the button mutes the channel output.
5. Press the button to display lecture information, and then press the button again to display knowledge
points. Use the buttons to select it.

5.4 Table of event icons

Chapter 6 Management Interface


System Administration is the background setting of this product; it can perform basic system settings and confirm
system operations. Network setting confirms the network connection. Record Setting sets the recording mode and
audio delay and other functions. Local Storage setting helps you save your recording files and set loop recording.

1. The first time you login, please enter the default account and password: enter admin for the user name, and
admin for the password.
2. Language switching:Language on the top-right corner of the page allows you to select Traditional Chinese,
Simplified Chinese or English. The factory default language is set to English.

6.1 System Information


The basic settings of this product are controlled here; users can set the device name, system time and change the
account password etc. You can manually change the system time or use the automatic update option to change the
device time.

1. Device Setting
(1) Device Name: System unit’s name; press the Apply button at the bottom-right corner when you entered a name
to apply it.
(2) Changing System Time:
Manual Setting: Please select the correct date, and enter the correct time in the time field; press Apply at the
bottom-right corner when finished the settings.
(3) Device Description: You can set description will be displayed in Video Manager
(4) Time Zone and Summer time: according to Country selection
(5) NTP service: Host time automatic synchronization with the Network Time
2. Changing user name and password with System Administration:

(1) New User: Enter a System Administration user login name that you want.
(2) New Password: Enter the System Administration user login password that you want.
(3) Confirm Password: Requires you to enter your password again for confirmation. Your password will be
displayed if you check Show Characters, and it will be hidden if not.
(4) Click Apply at the bottom-right corner of this page; it will automatically log out when applied. Please login
again using the new username and password.

3. Changing boot screen:


(1) The boot screen is the image you will see when
you boot up this product.
(2) Enter the Boot Screen field and click on the image
you want to change.
(3) The uploaded image file format must be a PNG
file.
(4) Click on Apply at the bottom-right corner of the
page.

4. Boot setting: Default power button to boot, can also be set to automatically Boot after plugging in the adapter

6.2 Network Settings

1. Auto IP allocation: Click DHCP at top of screen to have IP address auto allocated by routers of LAN being
connected.
2. Manual add network: Click manual setup, enter network information ( IP address / subnet mask / default gateway
/ primary DNS / other DNS ).
3. Click Apply at lower right corner, click OK in popup dialog box, restart the system to complete network setup.

6.3 Recording Settings


This chapter covers instructions on Basic Setting, Storage Setting and Streaming Setting.

6.3.1 Basic Setting

1. Audio delay: Delay of sound after video transmission. Image of user or video sync with audio output. Video and
audio paired without inconsistence.
2. Line out loop through: You may set audio loop output on or off. You may close audio loop output to eliminate
amplification feedback. The latter is a string of sharp swish of high frequency output from a speaker which, in turn,
is collected by a speaker from the same speaker and then amplified and sent to it for the second time.
* Please press OK after settings are changed successfully. Press OK again in popup window to apply changes made. New settings
effect starting from next recording.

6.3.2 Storage Setting

1. Insert logo: select location of picture file from dropdown menu, press to select desired logo file to insert.
2. Add head / tail to video: insert short video at the beginning and ending of your recording, press to select
desired video file to insert.
3. Enable recording backup: Press and backup setup page displays.
(1) Backup mode : FTP
(2) IP address and port number : set up IP address and port number of backup target
(3) Folder : set up name of backup folder
(4) Log in
˙Anonymous : Check this option in case the target FTP avails anonymous login.
˙Account ID / password : Give account ID and password for login.
(5) video formats: MP4
* Press Connection test to validate FTP settings.
* Press Apply after setup is completed. Press OK in popup reminder window to apply your changes. New settings effect starting
from next recording.
4. Enable Add prefix to video filename: Export, Upload, the use Lesson Info / device description file is added to the
Video filename as a prefix string

Add prefix to video filename: Add Device Description as a prefix to filename when uploading and exporting videos.

6.3.3 Streaming Settings

1. Streaming mode: select streaming target.


(1) Select Disable to close streaming.
(2) Select LAN multi-point transmission to show IP address and connection port. This is used to provide given
single PC connection in the same KS-2 LAN. It requires software capable of network streaming.

a. Take example. You may enter IP address and connection port for VLC to play instant recordings.
b. View streaming address from network streaming in the setup item of main menu.
c. Life cycle: set up TTL.
* Press Apply after setup is completed to apply new changes.

(3) Select LAN single point transmission to show IP address and connection port. This is used to provide
given single PC connection in the same KS-2 LAN. It requires software capable of network streaming.
Take example. You may enter IP address and connection port for VLC to play instant recordings. View
streaming address from network streaming in the setup item of main menu.
* Press Apply after setup is completed to apply new changes.

(4) Select Webcasting to input data for Flash-Server.


a. Add personal channel at Fengyun live broadcasting web page. Enter IP address given after application to
view recordings realtime through predefined channel.
b. With channel added in Fengyun live broadcasting web page you may view recordings by selecting desired
playback IP address or search desired one by entering keywords in homepage.
* Press Apply after setup is completed to apply new changes.

6.4 Local Storage Settings


Save recording files to external hard disk (eSATA/USB). Connect the disk drive and relevant disk information
displays.

1. Disk setup: In Storage device page, click Disk selection at bottom of page, select desired drive, click Apply.
2. Formatting disk: press key, press OK in popup window to format the connected disk. Status of disk in
Storage device page changes to "mounted".
3. Storage settings
(1) Check to enable Local storage and save your recordings in it.

1. Enable debug mode: Open Event Log and enter debug mode to perform recording.
2. Display event categories: All, admin, and user interface.
3. Sort by most recent date; available selections include past month, past two days, past three days.

The lower right corner can click "Export" to export the configuration, click "Import" to select and upload the
configuration file to be imported.
Click on "Firmware Update" to upgrade the firmware, select and upload the firmware to be updated.

Chapter 7 Video Management Platform


7.1 Lecture Manager
Lecture Manager is designed to: Recording Course playback (movie, resource files) downloaded to the PC, upload to
FTP, and delete video.

1. The first time you login, please enter the default account and password: enter teacher for the user name, and
teacher for the password.
2. Language switching Language on the top-right corner of the page allows you to select Traditional Chinese,
Simplified Chinese or English. The factory default language is set to English.

1. Press to delete lecture.


2. Select a video to Playback:
If the recording mode is MP4 mixed viedo, there will only be a video; if the recording mode is MP4 mixed /
original videos, there will be a maximum of 3 videos.

3. Press to download lecture.


4. Press to upload lecture.

Display live video in the “Standby” mode when the recording is not started.
