Types of Organizational Structures

Thee organizational structure is basically the framework which is followed in order to effectively
and efficiently run the business there are seven different types of organizational structures
which are as following.
1. Simple structure
2. Divisional structure
3. Functional structure
4. Team structure
5. Matrix structure
6. Boundary less structure
7. Virtual structure

 Simple design structure

My family business follows a simple design structure in which there is an owner and he
has 2 employees that work under him. The decisions are made by the owner and there
are no managers the hierarchy is pretty flat. And is only applicable for smaller businesses
so it is a simple business structure.

 Divisional structure
Car companies like Honda follow this form of organizational structure as they have
separated different departments like paint, assembly, research and development,
manufacturing and software etc. and then in each there is further functional structures in
which different groups of people are responsible for making or assembly of a particular
part of the car. This is done by usually medium sized organizations
 Functional structure
For example in a stitching unit for readymade garments the tailors are separated by the
part or type of clothing that they make and they tend to do very repetitive work and the
workers increase in their efficiency over time as they get better at doing their repetitive
job

 Team structure
For example in IT companies like IT solutions team structure is used in which the
employees form teams or groups they have a lower level of hierarchy they employees are
given task like developing a particular software and then they determine themselves how
they will reach that goal in the most efficient way and by utilizing all the strengths of the
team and minimizing the weaknesses

 Matrix structure
The matrix structure is a very complex structure for example in UCP all there is a strict
hierarchy and the teachers work independently and they work under the deans and the
program managers but if there is an immediate requirement of a teacher or if a group task
like a research is to be done then multiple teacher will need to work to gather in order to
accomplish this structure

 Boundary less structure

The boundary less organizations are actually the very large organizations like Apple it is a
boundary less organization because it has decreased its level of strictness of its hierarchy
and has increased its level of flexibility and it has also increased the connectivity to its
customers to make customer and inter departmental support get done in the minimum
possible time

 Virtual structure
The virtual organizations like Netflix they are providing a service and they do not have a
centralized location or office their organization is spread all over in order to insure that
work efficiency is accomplished because they are connected by the internet and being a
very large organization it helps them keep their productivity at a high level while
reducing costs which make Netflix a virtual organization

 Conclusion
Different organizations need different structures as not one structure can be perfect for
all as each and every organization has different scenarios and different sizes and also
many other factors like their nature of business number of employees etc. the
companies need to see which structure best suits them according to their needs and
wants. The structure plays an important part in the success and also the rate of success
of the organization.
