STATEMENT OF PURPOSE

INTRODUCTION:
I am Jaspreet Singh, a resident of Bazidpur Bhoma, Abohar, Punjab. My father is a farmer and
my mother is a homemaker. I have always been a confident person and believed in myself even
then I had to cross various obstacles to reach the point I stand at today. It wasn’t due to lack of
talent but in fact due to the environment in which I was growing up. A boy with aspirations and
with no constraints I was always progressing through the education system in rural India which
was very challenging. I was ready since that day to sail in the world of education trying to
explore and discover the dream this boy had as a child. This quote laid the foundation of my
thinking as an individual as well as opened various doors for the future.

ACADEMIC BACKGROUND
I completed my schooling from Adarsh Senior Secondary School affiliated to Punjab School
Education Board in 2011. After that, I completed basic computer applications certificate from
Prominent Computer Systems. Then, I took admission in Bachelor of Arts from Panjab
University which I successfully completed with First Division in 2015. While pursuing my
graduation I was overwhelmed with the things happening around the Business world. My keen
interest for learning new ideas, when combined with my inner desire to reach a degree of
excellence in every piece of work I perform, enabled me to acquire significant knowledge on
various aspects of nature and business, as well as leading me through a successful educational
career.

I have applied for admission in Graduate Certificate Business program in Algoma University, I
have the eagerness to learn and execute innovative methods of well-organized / resourceful
management as well as possess competent Computer and Communication skills. In particular, I
am interested in factors that affect the competitive performance of a business concern and the
manner in which changes in technology affect an organization’s structure, long-term business
strategy, product development, manufacturing, supply chains, distribution network,
information needs and standard systems. In order to gain an appreciation of these and related
issues, it is essential for me to have a strong grounding in administrative studies connected with
Business, as well as to gain a General Management perspective. I believe that the Graduate
Certificate in Business studies program would be valuable in helping me achieve these
objectives. It would enable me to channel my quantitative and conceptual skills in analyzing
business issues and would open up new avenues in research.
Apart from studies, I won positions in 400, 800 and 1600 meters running. Sailing through life
quite unknowingly of my future, I completed my graduation from Punjab and then moved to
Delhi in search of a job. In a matter of few weeks, i landed a job with Sphere fitness and sports
Pvt Ltd, a company dealing in sale of sports cycles and accessories of well known international
brands like Sigma (Germany), Agu (Netherlands), M-Wave (Germany) etc. Within a few months
of working, I realized both my interest and acumen for this profession, and have been working
in this field since.

1. Gold medal 110m hurdles, district level.
2. Silver Medal 1600 m race, CBSE cluster level.
3. Member of NCC (National Cadet Corps). 

IELTS TEST
My overall score with IELTS is 7.5 Bands which includes 8.0 in Listening, 8.0 in Reading, 7.0 in
Speaking, 6.0 in Writing.

WORK EXPERIENCE:

After completing my graduation I got the opportunity to work as Executive Sales with Sphere
Fitness & Sports Pvt. Ltd. Sphere Fitness & Sports Pvt. Ltd. is providing excellence services and
support to the wide range of customers. Gradually after gaining few years of experience I was
promoted to Assistant Sales Manager in the same company. Working in sales environment at
the Executive Sales level has given me fair exposure, as I have handled various job
responsibilities like managing potential clients via email or phone, planning and overseeing
new marketing initiatives, researching the needs of other companies and the new trends
prevailing the market, nurturing existing accounts for up sell and cross-sell covering all
aspects of Sales, business Development and Account Management etc.
At this point in time in my career, I thought to upgrade my knowledge and decided to pursue
program of Business from Algoma University, Canada so that I can reach to a level which I have
decided to pursue in my career.

WHY POST GRADUATE CERTIFICATE IN BUSINESS?

Although I have been working in Sales business from last 3.5 years and have well established
myself in the local industry and developed a lot of valuable links, lack of a formal education in
business and management is starting to become a hurdle in my career. I have been dealing in
the sales of well known international brands and now aspire to work for these multinational
companies and have a flourishing career.

To be more successful in today’s growing global economy one has to be proactive, pro thinking
and go that extra mile to achieve her/his goal. And, I think that with me enrolling myself for
Post Graduate Certificate in Business Program will help me to get ahead in a variety of fields
including marketing, human resources, accounting, banking and international business.
Certificate in Business focus on the real-world business knowledge and the latest technology
skills needed to succeed in today’s global market place. The course modules will help me in the
development of appropriate skills and knowledge to understand the world of business and
management in the global context. This course will also provide me with the advance
accounting skills required in Business Administration and will also help me to learn the
fundamentals of good business including managing marketing, project and risk management.
Also I will be able to understand/evaluate micro and macro economical incidents/trends in
industry and function accordingly.

Given the importance of globalization in the management and development of companies, an

education that does not fully address the international and multicultural realities of the modern
business world is incomplete. I have therefore decided to pursue my Graduate Certificate
overseas, as the expertise and facilities offered in my country’s educational institutions are
limited and thus unable to match the diversity and multiculturalism available overseas. I look
forward to meet and interact with people from diverse backgrounds.

I feel very excited about this, and I think I will graduate as a very different, more confident,
more skilled, more efficient person, ready to take on the challenges of a competitive market.

The course I was looking for is available in Algoma University with affordable fee structure this
is another reason for choosing Brampton as my study destination. The facilities offered by the
university will help me gain experience be it social, recreational or my personal Development.
This program brings together participants from all over the world. So I would be in contact with
diverse cultures and I would also develop an international network.
It would be very rewarding to share and exchange thoughts and ideas with a group of people
who are from different nationalities, cultural orientations and schools of thought on one

Certificate in Business from Algoma University can act as a stepping stone for success for me
to embark on a fulfilling career.

After studying from Canada I will get international exposure and education both. So I look
forward to shape up my career in the halls of Algoma University. My plan is to work with a well
reputed organization such as Amazon, Flipkart, Pepsi Co, IBM etc as a Administrative Generalist,
Marketing manager, Finance Manager, where I can utilize my skill to identify and propose ways
that a company can improve their efficiency and help to make organizations more profitable by
reducing costs and increasing revenues and responsible for maintaining, developing and
upgrading web sites for businesses as well as overseeing a team of designers and marketers.

In India, there is a very great opportunity for an Internationally qualified Sales Professionals, so
International study will give me the opportunity to have cutting edge over my competitors back
in India. India is growing very fast in the Business field, therefore, after getting Post Graduate
Certificate from Algoma University, I will get good placement in well reputed companies.
