KG1 Monthly Module

January 2020
By the end of January, KG1 students will have achieved the following:
I. Language Arts: English

a) Oral Language & Vocabulary:

• There are four seasons in a year: winter, spring, summer, & autumn.
• It’s winter time! / I feel cold/ I put on my winter clothes to keep warm.
• I build a snowman/ I dress the snowman.
• Winter items: umbrella, jacket, mittens, gloves, hat, scarf, and boots.
• Winter activities: sliding, skiing, skating, and sledding.

Stories we enjoyed listening to:

b) Phonemic Awareness:
• Identify the capital letters “G”, “J”, “P”, and “T” and their sounds.

c) Pre-Writing Skills:
• Identify & make spiral lines using play dough.
• Paint & draw spiral lines.

d) Songs & rhymes:

• It’s Raining, It’s Pouring
• Build a snowman
• A chubby little snowman
• I’m a little snowman
• Oh, I am a poor old snowman
• Snow is falling
• Rain rain go away
• Here come the raindrops
II. Science:

• Identify the colors green and orange.

• Compare the concepts: long vs. short.
• Compare the concepts: on vs. under.
III. Mathematics:

• Match objects and pictures.

• Identify & form rectangles using play dough.
• Identify the number 3 and its value.

IV. Gross Motor Skills:

• Collective games with rules
• Ball games: fill/empty

f) Psychomotor Skills:
• Develop fine motor skills.
• Develop the perception of both hemi-bodies.

V. Arts:

• Piet Mondrian : painting, crumpling, and tearing

It’s Raining, It’s Pouring: Snow Is Falling:

It’s raining, it’s pouring, Snow is falling

The old man is snoring, Come and see
He went to bed, and bumped his head, You can have some fun with me
And couldn’t get up in the morning, Sliding, skating, skiing too
La la la la la, la la la la la. There are lots of things to do.

Build a Snowman: Rain Rain Go Away:

Build a snowman (x3), big and round,
Rain rain go away,
Shape three snowballs, different sizes,
Come again another day,
Stack them tall, and add a face.
Little children want to play,
Dress the snowman (x3), big and round,
Rain rain go away.
Dress him in last Winter’s clothing,
Tie his scarf, and add a hat.
When the sun (x3), shines so bright,
Watch him melt and disappear, Until winter comes again!

A Chubby Little Snowman: Here Come the Raindrops:

A chubby little snowman, had a carrot for a nose,
Along came a bunny, and what do you suppose? Here come the raindrops,
Then hungry little bunny, was looking for his lunch, Falling from the sky,
He ate the snowman’s nose, nibble nibble crunch, Here’s my umbrella,
Nibble nibble crunch, nibble nibble crunch, To keep me dry.
He ate the snowman’s nose, nibble nibble crunch.

I’m a Little Snowman:

I’m a little snowman, look at me,

These are my buttons, one two three,
These are my eyes and this is my nose,
I wear a hat and scarf, brrr it’s cold!

FLE : Français langue étrangère Janvier 2020 Classe : KG1

Thème : L’hiver.
Objectif : Acquérir un vocabulaire sur le thème de l’hiver.
Reconnaitre la couleur blanche et le rectangle.
Langage oral : La nature en hiver.
Langage écrit : J’entoure les habits d’hiver.
Chants : Neige neige blanche/Dans le jardin d’à côté.
Conte : Petit ours brun fait un bonhomme de neige / Tchoupi a peur de l’orage/
Tchoupi fait de la luge.
Sensoriel : Reconnaitre le blanc et le rectangle.

Comptine :
