Based on the first video, what is the significant role/functions that a family plays
in the building of society. (perspective of sociology)

A family is a social institution existing in the society. And based on the video, a
Family plays a big role in building the society, roles such as for social structures,
procreation, development of each person, interaction and to balance sexual
activity. Marriage or building a family is deeply connected to economic and social
structures of society as both partners are entering a new stage in life where they
strengthen their bond together with legal actions. Family is the main way of
individuals to move from their family of orientation into a family of procreation.
To bear a child is to mold and guide them with emotional, material, individual and
societal level of support where one learns to serve the common good. Lastly,
families regulate the sexual activity of partners in the society.

2. Based on the second and third video, what is the role of the Christian family in the
mission of the Church? (perspective of the Christian faith)

Based on the second and third video, the role of Christian family contributes a lot
to the mission the Church. A family is formed to the union of a man and woman
together with their children. The family is a community of faith, hope and love. It
bears the sign and image of our God and it reflects God’s creation involved with
the procreation and education of their children. “The Christian family constitutes
a specific revelation and realization of ecclesial communion and for this reason it
can and should be called a domestic church.” as said by Pope John Paul II. The
video also stated that the family carries an evangelizing and missionary task at
home and in the community. The book says that, the family is a privileged
community called to achieve a sharing thought and common ideas and
cooperation of the family where one learns about moral and social values to honor
God and his work of creation. The household is a community of love that also
transmits life. The family serves as an agent of culture of integrity, honesty, truth
and justice. Most importantly the family passes the living reality of faith.

3. Compare and Contrast the two perspectives of understanding the family?

The concept of family in the sociological view focuses in the role of each member
in the society. Families build the society where legal actions are taken within
marriage having each member their own rights. While in the Christian view of
family, it focuses on the mission of families for the church, for the creation of
God and spreading of values and God’s lessons.

The Sociological view and Christian view of the family are similar. Both says that
the family is the core of the society. Formed to the union of a man and a woman
together with their children they build a house that propagates love, integrity,
guidance and responsibility. Both carries a mission to mold and guide each other
for the common good. Each member learns to cope up with others so that in the
future they are ready to face the society and build a family that is God fearing,
acts by the book, and contributes to building the nation.
