1. The article supports the idea of retention of employees stating that old employees match with
the organization which reduces cost of training and development and finding an employee.

However, I don’t support this idea because sometimes hiring new employees is beneficial for the firm
because sometimes old employees lack creativity and modern skills and also unaware of the modern
technology. The cost of hiring professionals might be comparatively less to training and developing
the existing workforce for using new technology.

2. The article is emphasizing on training and development and supervisors support for being
important factor in retention of employees.

My opinion differs, I would suggest here that a number of other factors are equally significant in
making employees stay in organization for longer. These factors can be like raised salaries, good
reputation of the firm’s brand as well as emphasizes on greater stability and job security. In this article
unfortunately other factors for retention are not emphasized.

3. The article defines a correlation that exists between training and employees commitment (in the
context of Pakistan).

I support this point because no doubt training helps employees in understanding the task requirements
more easily and also provides them a chance to perform better which in turn makes employees feel
more satisfied and they are willing to work for the firm wholeheartedly. The satisfaction of employees
makes them more committed towards their job and the firm.

4. The article states that employee retention is expected to be enhanced by supervisor support.

I support this view because supervisors support indeed bridges a positive bond between the
employees. The employees demonstrate positive behavior towards their work and the firm when they
receive good treatment from the supervisors as well as the support from supervisors enables to build
effective communication between employees which reduces pressure on employees as they are able to
discuss hurdles encountered during a tiring and difficult task/ project. So the hypothesis in the article
H2 : Supervisor support is positively associated with employee retention is true and holds significance.

5. The article supports that the work environment is a vital factor that influences employee
commitment and retention.

My own understanding also supports this idea because work environment is a crucial factor for
employees to decide if they want to work for the firm. A healthy work environment makes employees
feel comfortable and satisfied not just only at the work but also in other areas of life. When an
employee is happy with his job initially he is able to concentrate more and perform well which enables
him to earn rewards and appreciation.
