If we lose the only road acoess to the Main Airport Terminal, then finding another way to access the Airport would be very diffiealt. ‘There are severe drainage issues in Rund involving plugged culverts and collapsed drains sand undersized drains. ‘This causes standing water in many yards and streets. Ibis our ‘understanding thatthe WV Division of Highways is undertaking «stedy ofthe entire Rand area drainage system. We appreciate your commitment to develop a solution to these drainage issues, Another key road issue needing immeaiat attention is a major road slide on Route 4 at Clendenin. This slide is near the Clay County border. The road has cracked and separated and the lane closest tothe river is not usable. This widening crack is between two retaining walls "The road repairs listed in this letter should be considered permissible asthe repairs are necessary to enhance aceess to medical eare for COVID-19 patients, to improve roads that are within 5 miles of a hospital or health eare facility, or to repair road conditions to enhance access by emergency vehicles to residents. Below isthe origina list of road concerns that we submited to you in March of 2019, ith updated notes in bold based on our recent inspections: ® 2. Intersection of Carver St & Smoot Above, Institue- signs of potential sink hole inthe asphalt. The streets in this area are being dug up for the new sanitary sewer line and, wil be to be repaved. Dupont Ave, Shrewsbury- hillside slipping into Route 60 west bound lane of teallic, No changes, ‘Cabin Creek Road from Route 61 to Decotw/Leewood split-need to have ditch lines piled and cleaned, No changes, Dey Branch of Cabin Crock Rd- Culverts need to be cleaned from Cabin Creek Rd to school bus tur around, minor patching needed. No changes. ‘Route 61 from Coulburg RR crossing tothe Montgomery City Limit sign- ditches are full ‘and need to be pulled and cleaned. No changes, ‘Hospital Hil- hillside stip pushing material into the south bound lane. Repaired, Route 61 at Paint Creek to Whitaker- ditch lines need pulled und cleaned. No changes. 901 West Dupont Ave, from Chemours plant to Malden S curve- needs repaved. No shanges, ‘Toms Fork and Cabin Creek Rond- culvert needs cleaned. No changes. Route 94 Lens Cresk Road to bottom of the Lens Creek Mountain- dite lines need pulled snd cleaned. No changes % mile up Blue Creek Rad- numerous slips, very deep potholes, rock overhang concems. They did aot know when the bridge would be replaced, 15, Interseetion of Derricks Creek Rd and Socond Creek Ré, Sissonvlle- Road slipping, 18- 20 inch drop off or the eastside ofthe slip and numerous trees leaning or have fallen ‘over. Kanawha County Schools will no longer run buses along the section of the road. Fire engines may not be abe to access citizens in an emergency. Very sharp drop off into the ‘itch. Most of Chestnut Road needs repaved, 79. Montgomery Bridge- Needs complete renovation of bridge, painting and lighting. No change. '80, Smith Road near Olympus Drive, Charleston- bad slip causing guardrail to slip over the hillside. Repaired but still needs paved, 81, Smith Road near Biewood, Charleston- road interible condition, oad is slipping Repaired but nesés paved, 42, Howard Avenue, Institute very rough nthe low tea, Sewer work going on in the area surrently 83, 962 Lincoln Ave 25/30, Institute- very rough inthe low area. No shange, 85, Green Valley Drive Route 8 near Jefferson- the bridge is very rough, andthe creck has filled up under the bridge, No change. 86, Green Valley Drive Route 8 near Deer Creek, Jefferson- the pavement has broken off the csdge and pavementhas been covered in gravel. No change. 87. Brounland Road Route 15 to Emmons Road, Alum Creek- needs paved and multiple slips are forming. Somemaior work has been done fixing a serious slip, There are sill slips and the hillside very steep, More slides are developing, and the guard rail is falling 88, Route 11 near 1050 Rabel Mountain Road- Several large slips are getting worse and there are sharp drop-offs into the drainage ditches along the road.
