operated with a frequency of being on for 30 minutes and off for 30 minutes.
3) When the Fresh Ever Light key is not selected (ON), this function will not
operate at all.

3-5. DEFROST FUNCTION

1) Defrost is decided by the accumulated time the COMP is ON.

2) Defrost proceeds in the order of HEATING to idle time.
Other operation modes are not executed besides the test function before the set idle time passes.
3) When the fridge temperature is higher than 12 degree when the power is initially turned on,
on, the initial defrost is executed after an accumulated hour of 8hours of COMP ON passes.
4) The defrost frequency after that is set to an accumulated hours of 8 hours of COMP ON (Option selection).
5) When the power is turned off while executing general defrost and forced defrost, the initial defrost is
executed after the accumulated time of COMP ON passes 4 hours. (Defrost, idle time)
6) H eating is controlled by the sensor during defrosting and when the defrosting sensor is defective (short/
open), When the defrost sensor is perceived with Short/Open, accomplishes the emergency defrost system.
7) COMP and F-FAN is kept OFF during defrosting.
8) The unit takes 10 minutes of idle time after the defrosting is completed.
9) The point of turning ON and OFF for the defrost heater are as follows by comparing defrost sensor
temperature.

3-6. BUZZER ALARM FUNCTION

1) Button touch sound

1-1) When you operate each key on the front display panel during normal operation, it generates a “Beep”
sound.
1-2) When pressing two keys, that is when entering or canceling the detail temperature adjustment function,
it generates a “Ding~Dong” sound.
1-3) When operated by mistake, it does not generate a “Beep” sound.
1-4) Key entry sound has priority over other alarms.

2) Door-open alarm
2-1) When the freezer or refrigerator door is kept open for more than 2 minutes, it generates a buzzer alarm (
“Ding~Dong”).
2-2) When either one of the two door generates an initial alarm, it continues to generates the alarm in the
initial alarm frequency until both doors are completely closed.
2-3) The initial buzzer alarm is generated for about 15-20 seconds 2 minutes after the door is opened, and
the alarm is continuously generated in 2 minute frequency when continued to be kept open.
2-4) The alarm sound is immediately stopped when both the freezer and refrigerator doors are closed.

3) Forced operation, forced defrosting alarm sound (Beep sound)

3-1) When forced operation or forced defrosting is selected, it generates a “Beep” alarm.
3-2) When you press the test button of main PBC once, the buzzer generates a “Beep” sound (0.25 seconds
ON/0.75 seconds OFF) to execute the alarm.
3-3) Even during the forced defrosting, it generates the alarm until completed (including idle time) or
canceled.
Forced defrost alarm sound is generated (0.1 seconds ON/0.1 seconds OFF)

3-7. TEST FUNCTION

▶ Test function is the function to test the PCB and product, inspect the process and service.
▶ Every time you press the test button of the main PCB, the test function changes from forced operation
forced defrosting cancel (normal operation).

1) Forced operation function

When you press the test button of the main PCB once, forced operation is selected and it generates a “Beep”
sound alarm.
1-1) When you press the test S/W on the main PCB, the COMP and F-FAN immediately starts to operate.
Therefore, when you execute the forced operation direction when the COMP is turned OFF, it can
generate an overload to the COMP. It requires careful attention.
1-2) When you select the forced operation, the notch is automatically selected to “High”.
1-3) When the forced operation is complete (24 hours), it executes the defrosting irrelevant from the prior
condition.

13

REFRIGERATOR

1-4) To cancel the forced operation while in progress, turn o the power and then turn it back on, or cancel
with a separate test key.
1-5) When the forced operation is canceled while in progress (changed to cancel mode), the COMP ON time
of the forced operation is deleted and it starts to retime 10 hours from the canceled point.

2) Forced defrost function

2-1) When you press the test button two times, it executes the defrosting and generates a “ B eep” sound to
execute the alarm.
2-2) The “ B eep” sound is executed until the idle time is completed.
2-3) The display of 1) continues to be displayed until the heating and idle time is completed.
2-4) It takes 10 minutes ± 30 seconds of idle take after the heating is completed.

3) Test function cancel mode

When you press the test S/W one more time when the forced defrost function is in progress, the forced
defrost is canceled to return to normal operation.

3-8. EMERGENCY OPERATION FUNCTION

1) The COMP (interfaced with F-FAN) is turned ON unconditionally irrelevant from the internal temperature
for 5 minutes when the power is connected initially, and then it is turned ON/OFF by the freezer sensor. At
this time, when the freezer sensor has an error (short, open), it repeats the operation of turning ON for 25
minutes and OFF for 35 minutes irrelevant from the freezer temperature.
2) When the freezer sensor is detected to be normal during the emergency operation of 1), it immediately
recovers to the normal condition by the control of the freezer sensor.

3-9. EEPROM FUNCTION (POWER OUTAGE COMPENSATION FUNCTION)

1) Notch save function

1-1) When the R-Room sensor temperature is over 12°C when the power is connected, it automatically sets
the notch to “Mid”. When the R-Room sensor temperature is 12°C or below, it displays the set value
before the power is turned OFF.

2) COMP ON accumulated time, save function

2-1) When the COMP is ON, it saves the COMP ON accumulated time every 5 minutes.
2-2) When the R-Room sensor temperature is over 12°C when the power is connected initially, it executes the
defrost in the normal defrost frequency (8 hours). When the R-Room sensor temperature is 12°C
or below, it continues to calculate the COMP accumulated time to the EEPROM SAVE
accumulated time, to execute the defrost function when it reaches the defrost frequency (8 hours).

3) POWER COOL function save function

3-1) When the R-Room sensor temperature is over 12°C when the power is connected initially, Power Cool
will not be selected even when it was executing Power Cool before the power was turned o (shut
down). When the R-Room sensor temperature is 12°C or below, Power Cool is automatically selected
and the Power Cool time saved to EEPROM. Therefore when the power is turned on again, the save
accumulated time is continuously accumulated to execute the Power Cool function.

14
3. OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS & INSTALLATION

3-10. SHELF DIAGNOSIS FUNCTION

1) When the power is connected, the initial self diagnosis function is executed, and turns on all LED display for
2 seconds when it is normal.
2) When a defective sensor is found among the temperature sensors as a result of the initial self diagnosis, the
applicable LED continues to be turned in frequency of 0.5 seconds.

13. CIRCUIT DESCRIPTION

13-1. Power

P OWER USED CIRCUIT

V cc(DC 5 V ) Peripheral power of MICOM and sensor detection part

+12V (DC 12 V ) Relay, panel operating part

The AC220 V power is decreased in voltage through CN70 to L V T (DC-TRANS), and this power changes to DC
voltage via rectification diode (D1~D4). And then it is smoothed through 1000uF/35 V capacitor to output stable
DC 12 V through regulator 7812, which is used as the operating power of relay and PC B. And it is used as the
input power of 7805 to control MICO to be used for refrigerator control.

13-2. Oscillator circuit

Terminal
frequency

Xin(#2) 4MHz

Xout(#1) 4MHz

Tolerance ±0.5% or less

The internal logic components of MICO are oscillator circuit to generate clock for synchronization and time
calculation to receive and send information. When the specification of X-TAL changes the time calculated in
MICOM changes or will be disabled. Therefore you must use rated parts and rated specification.

51
13. CIRCUIT DESCRIPTION

13-3. Reset circuit

Terminal Voltage

V cc DC 5 V

Reset DC 5 V

Tolerance ±0.5% or less

The reset circuit is the circuit that initializes all the program function by initializing various parts including RAM
inside MICOM when the power is connected or when the power is connected to MICOM after instant power
outage. When the power is connected, the voltage of the rest terminal becomes “Low” condition for several μsec
compared to Vcc (DC 5 V) of MICOM, and in normal operating condition, it is maintained to “ High”
(Vcc voltage) condition.

13-4. Door switch detection circuit

When the refrigerator or freezer door is open, the R-door S/W contact point becomes closed. At this time, the
current of PC B line flows to the photo coupler (PC817) via R703 and D701 to “11” or “9” of CN71 to operate
PC817. At this time, a square wave of 50 or 60 Hz is generated in the MICOM port.
MICOM recognizes this square wave to detect the open condition of the refrigerator door.
When the refrigerator or freezer door is closed, the R-door S/W contact point becomes open. AT this time current
does not flow to PC817 and the MICOM terminal maintains DC5V to recognize that the refrigerator door is
closed.

52
13. CIRCUIT DESCRIPTION

13-5. Temperature detection circuit

Sensor uses the characteristic of reduced resistance when the temperature is high and vice versa by using the
thermistor with a temperature coefficient of negative resistance.
C301~303, R302, R304, R305 are parts to prevent the noise and are not relevant to temperature detection
characteristics.
For the F-sensor, when the voltage inputted to MICOM is considered Vf, Vf=(Rth* Vcc)/(R301+Rth), where Rth
refers to the resistance of terminstor corresponding to the temperature. Refer to the sensor resistance and
voltage calculation table for the temperature in the Appendix, and also refer to the table for A/S since it includes
the MICOM terminal voltage for the corresponding temperature.

13-6. Key scan and display circuit (photosynthesis LED circuit)

1) Key scan and display operation description

As shown in the wave form of each part below, “High” output sends the signal for 2m sec in the frequency of
6m sec using 3 terminals of No. #18, 17 and 16. This signal is sent to the output terminal through the input
terminal of IC05 (KID65783AP or TD62783AP).
At this time, the peak to peak voltage of square wave is about DC 12 V and the form of the output wave is as
follows.

53
13. CIRCUIT DESCRIPTION

2) Key scan
When the grid #1 wave is outputted, the signal is supplied to SW No. 1 through panel PC B resistance of
R1 10K . At this time, when you press SW1, the signal is decreased by R504 (1K ) and R505 (8.2 K ) to
provide peak to peak voltage of 4.5V to MICOM.
Then the MICOM judges that wave form of GRID #1 has been inputted to change the function applicable to
SW1 key. The wave form of each GRID is recognized in the same way.

3) GRID wave form

4) Photosynthesis LED display

For the photosynthesis LED operation, it receives the signal from GRID #1 to operate the photosynthesis LED
through the wire via the connector (CN50, #3-#4). (To improve the brightness of the actual photosynthesis
LED, the circuit resistance (R501, R502, R503) uses the jumper.)

54
13. CIRCUIT DESCRIPTION

13-7. Load operation part circuit

In the condition to supply the power to each main PCB line as shown in the following circuit, the “ High” signal
from MICOM PIN No. #26 is sent to the input terminal of IC04 (SIP2655/ULN2006) for the compressor
operation. Then the IC is turned on and the current flows through the output of IC04 with 12 V (DC 12 V)
connected to one end of the COMP relay to the GROUND for the CORE of the relay to generate a magnetic
field to turn on the contact point and connect AC input voltage (AC 220 V ) at both ends of the load to operate the
compressor. When the signal is “Low” for MICOM PIN #26, the IC04 is turned off to disable the current flow to
the coil of COMP relay to turn off the contact point of the relay to stop the compressor operation.
The defrost relay is connected to the circuit so that it operates only when the compressor is turned off, and separate
operating method has similar conditions as the relay operating condition to be controlled by the MICOM PIN #25 signal.

13-8. Diode option circuit

1) Diode circulit

2) Operating principle
From the GRID terminal that is generated only when the power is turned on initially, it takes the output from the
connected circuit as input through the switching diode to make a decision on the option through the matrix method.
* When changing the option, always turn the power off before changing the condition and connect the power again.
