Professional Communications & Customer Service Experience
Highlights Developed itineraries for public transit travel for both walk-in and call-in customers and advised on and sold
appropriate fare media at Alexandria Transit.
Wrote various articles and editorials, sold advertising placements, performed final edits of all articles and
editorials, and placed all content for publication as Editor-in-Chief of The Student Voice.
Conducted tours for new students and visitors to Northern Virginia Community College, including provost
candidates, assisted students with registration, class selection, and tuition payments, and spoke on behalf of
the college and/or student body at events like NVCC’s 2007 Strategic Planning Retreat, as a Student
Ambassador.
Administrative/Organizational Experience
Maintained inventory and developed storage system for public transit schedules from various providers at
Alexandria Transit.
Maintained portfolios, payment records, and accounts payable and receivable records, including advertising
invoices, at The Student Voice.
Supervisory/Managerial Experience
Directed all functions and activities of The Student Voice, training and overseeing a staff of 25+ editors,
writers, and photographers, and serving as a resource and counselor to all staff members. Doubled
circulation and expanded coverage & distribution area from one campus to all six NVCC campuses, increasing
advertising revenue by at least 70%. Spearheaded development of a website that included all newspaper
content and interactive community features.
